Mark Fine just reported that Lyon's management approached the Dockers 6 weeks ago and asked if they would be interested next year ...

Chris Pelchen started working at the Saints about 7-8 weeks ago.

Not a coincidence.

Don't start the my girlfriend left and slept with all my mates what did I do wrongs... he is now officially a c$#@. If he walked for cash or opportunities elsewhere for what ever reason he is now the enemy. Saints have been left scrounging out the back in the rubbish of the coaching buffet. Dogs & Adelaide have a nice head start and it's his fault that we got even further behind. Honesty would have been nice, but he probably was waiting to see that his new club didn't get inconvenienced in their announcement timing.

How can it be a coincidence that the very same week Chris Pelchen starts working at St Kilda, Ross Lyon's management speaks to the Fremantle board about coaching them next year?

I first heard the news in the car, and indeed this was my first thought. I thought he was Lyons choice

I love this club

Chris Pelchen has a reputation for being as strong willed as RL. The two were inevitably going to clash. I had a feeling one of them would go after 12 months. Just thought it was going to be Pelchen!

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Now we can start rebuilding the list properly, without rejects from all parts of the country...

Grant Thomas said this would never work upon hearing the appointment. Didn't take much notice at the time but seems he was spot on.
40 years I've been watching and supporting this club and the different ways it finds to self destruct is incredible.

Serious question, who the hell is Pelchen?

Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

General Manager of Football at the Saints, started work with us in the first week of August.

Was the head of recruiting and list management at Hawthorn 2004-2011, and before that was a recruiter at Port Adelaide.

Basically built the premiership teams at Port and at Hawthorn.

And Ross had to report to him. I guess he will be in charge at Freo. Can anyone imagine Michael Malthouse reporting to someone at Collingwood?
Speaking of whom, if Collingwood stick to their "plan", he will be available to coach next year. Other than a newbie, he would be my number one pick. Why? Simple. Michael Malthouse=skills improvement. The last thing we want is losers like Mark Harvey, Neil Craig, Rodney Eade or Mark Williams.

There's been enough rumours/stories about Ross being hard to work with.

Maybe Pelchen is also hard to work with.

But these conflicts usually take a while to develop. Why would Lyon start the bail out process the minute Pelchen arrives?

If that is in any way a reason for all this it sounds pretty pathetic!

Interstingly GT predicted this on Footy Classified when asked about the new Saints Structure.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

IF RL left because of another appointment, then he is a fool. In any organisation, you got to work with all types, with people & styles you may not like. That is what being PROFESSIONAL is all about.

A brave and very gutsy board would've been looking for
A replacement for Ross then and there, if they could read the play better.

Clearly the board stuffed up and assumed Ross would work under Pelchen. Plain dumb!!!
