"yeah Joel Smith quit... wasn't traded
he was a young kid coming off a reco competing for the St.Kilda midfield with Burke, Harvey, Winmar, Brown, Jones, Lappin to name a few. Hawks put a better offer to him and he took it.

I should have added... you can't blame him for leaving given his circumstance

Skeptic - So Joel Smith quit after being offered a dud deal by St Kilda and was not traded, my point still stands that if we had more loyalty in him we would have eventually been re paid, as Hawthorn were when he was All Australian in 2001 & 2003, won their B & F in 2001 and was vice captain in 2005. Clearly we let go a very good player... and no cannot blame him
