I'm really impressed by the thoughtful, analytical comments on here about why we wouldn't want Eade.....not.

I would prefer a younger coach and, if we have to have an older coach, Malthouse is the standout IMO.

But I reckon Eade is a much better coach than Williams, Craig, Ayres and some of the other names I've seen on here in the last couple of days.

He did wonders at both the Swans and the Dogs with playing lists that were never in the top drawer. He's a bit of a grump and pretty scary, but I'm told players generally respect him.

As I said above, we could perhaps do better, but we could also do a lot, lot worse.

I've got 3 options for a Coach all as good as appointing Eade/all as unlikely;

The Computer Program at Taylor Fry Analytics.

Prof. Stephen Clarke's Swinburne University Computer.

Or Lenny Hayes as Captain Coach

Eade - definitely yes - smart, flexible (unlike Ross) & experienced

Started Sydney on premiership path with game plan & did well with limited Bulldogs list - nowhere near Sainter's list quality IMO

We need a new coach with fresh ideas. Eade is not that IMO. Malthouse the exception however unlikely.

Well I'm not trying to write a thesis so I'll just stick to "I don't want him".

Would you all prefer Dean Laidley, because that's Plugger66's rumour Ilona another thread.

On the basis of the on-field performances of the teams he has coached, I would suggest that Eade is worth several Dean Laidleys.

Laidleys name won't even be mentioned. Somewhat surprisingly I think Plugger66 may be fishing for replies to fill in an existence which consists of him sitting on the internet most of the day.

And, I don't want Eade either.

Well, I'll come back to my point: I would prefer Eade to Laidley, Williams, Roos, Ayres, Mark Harvey, Craig and the other has beens and never wases that have been suggested on here. Malthouse and Lethal would be much better than Eade, but I doubt they are available.

I would probably prefer a younger coach, but who?

All I read on here is the statement "I don't want Eade.". But it's a meaningless statement unless you say who you would want. That's my point.

I would prefer someone who hasn't failed already. Eade is a failure across about 13 years of coaching.
Eade was regularly outcoached by GT. Just a small example: For four years GT put a tag on Scott West (usually Powell) and instructed them to give away a free kick before West could handball. Made West kick over the mark which meant a great chance of a turnover. Eade did nothing to combat this. Four years. Same trick.

If we get someone who has experience then I would want a coach who has already won a flag elsewhere and is still in the system.

Should have got Williams in 2007 when we were going to 'get the best coach, not the best coach available.' That was him. What Williams acheived at Port with the board undermining him was incredible. Probably let himself down towards the end as the back biting got to him. Would have excelled with the levels of support RL got at our club.

So, I would have Malthouse or Williams. But I think we'll get an untried coach.

Would not surprise me if CLOWN Westaway and the board signed off on Eade.

Appoint Eade and there will be two less memberships for starters!

Are we any chance to snare Robert Walls for a coaching comeback?
