Only a couple of weeks ago it was all gloom and doom.
All the best senior coaching prospects had been snapped up by the Demons, Crows and Bulldogs.
All the assistant coaches were leaving and we wouldn't be able to attract anyone of note down to Seaford.
And all the key fitness staff had departed and we'd have to settle for some 80 year old with a medicine ball.
The Scott Watters appointment has lead to a continuing flow of announcements that have generally been very well accepted by the supporters who are now genuinely excited about the future.
Well done Scotty!
And well done to Michael and Chris for getting on with the job in the face of significant negativity.

Life is way too short to hate people simply because they coach another footy team. Reserve that emotion for those who exploit human weaknesses and profit massively.Frankie B wrote:I've just spent the last eight years hating Dean Laidley!
(Sigh) Does this mean I now have to like him?
It was always clear to me that Dean Laidley did not have that "something" which would have stamped him as an AFL coach. However, it was also always clear to me that he knew a bit about the game. Time will tell, as they say. From current evidence, we don't seem to have lost too much in the assistant switching. It would be nice to recruit a kicking guru to improve that side of about twenty Saints players. Oh, hang on. That was supposed to be Paul Hudson. Is he still there? Maybe it takes a few years. My suggestion would be to go the the biomechanics department of the University of Melbourne. There are about a dozen who know what is wrong and what can be done to improve it. But because few of them have ever played footy, let alone at the elite level, they will be ignored and Gilbo will continue to kick it straight to the opposition.

Will be interesting to see how Laidley goes...his comments bout needing to bat deeper through the midfield are nice to hear....the fast tracking of 4-5 youngsters to carry the load augurs well.....just hope we can pull it off.stkildathunda wrote:St.Kilda Assistant Coach Dean Laidley
