This, was just amazing. It kind of stamped our rise from the bottom of the ladder. At this point I knew it was a changing of the times.

Also Gardiner's amazing game against Geelong.

Last night had a feel about it as well. I honestly can't remember having 70 odd point by half time, and actually looking like a pacey team. That in combination with players like McEvoy, Fisher and Schneider to come back in...

I'll throw some out there:

Last round of 1978 - we had to beat the scum at Moorabbin to make the 5. We spanked them but Fitzroy beat Geelong to bugger our finals hopes.

1997 prelim, yep.

2009 prelim

1990 we beat the Dawks by 3 points in a famous victory at Waverley

In chronological order...

1. Round 12, 1976 v Hawthorn http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 60619.html The Paul Callery game...This was my first real memory of supporting the Saints at the footy.

2. Round 19, 1987 v Footscray http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 70808.html Plugger's first century...I arrived late becuase I had to work in the morning. He needed 7 to get the 100 and got it in the last quarter...Then kicked his 8th to win the game. Only 1 BM vote...hmmm!

3. Round 2, 1989 v Carlton http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 90408.html Plugger again! Kicked 10 out of 12 on the Full Back of the Century! Robbed of the 3 BM votes by Brett Bowey who had 7 possessions...Must have played a magical shutdown job!

4. Round 12, 1992 v Collingwood http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 20608.html No Plugger and Kenny Sheldon spray to Devonport saw us beat Collingwood with Devo having his best moment for the club to kick the winner and get us over the line by a point.

5. Elimination Final, 1992 v Collingwood http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 20905.html Another special against Collingwood...Our first win in a final since 1973!

6. Round 7, 1994 v Sydney http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 40508.html Lockett kicks 11 and we come back from 44 points in the last quarter!

7. Round 9, 1995 v Carlton http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 50527.html Carlton only dropped two for the season...The other one was the week before!

8. Round 11, 2003 v Brisbane http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 30607.html Brisbane were virtually unbeatable and in the middle of a hat-trick of flags...I went to this game to watch them play...I didn't expect what followed. To keep the that team to a single point in the 2nd quarter was astounding.

9. Round 6, 2004 v Brisbane http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 40501.html Both teams were undefeated. TS40! Enough said.

10. Round 14, 2009 v Geelong http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 90705.html Both teams 13-0. A game for the ages!

The finals against Collingwood in 2008 and 2009 were pretty good too...as was the Adelaide one in 2005.

1. 1997 Preliminary Final vs North Melbourne MCG
That feeling of making the Grand Final for the first time in my life was unbelievable. The saints were unstoppable that night.

2. 2009 Preliminary Final vs Western Bulldogs MCG
Agonising from start to finish, but the ecstasy of that final goal was unbelievable.

3. 2010 Qualifying Final vs Geelong MCG
One of the best upsets ever, the last quarter was the longest half hour of my life.

4. 1996 Ansett Cup Grand Final vs Carlton Wav
Yeah it was pre season, but pre season meant something back then, it felt like a premiership. The emotion and scenes that night were amazing.

5. 2003 Round 11 vs Brisbane ES
Beating the unstoppable Lions with our young side was stunning, and the beginning of a great era.

6. 1992 Elimination Final vs Collingwood Wav
First finals win in my life and it couldn't have been against better opposition.

7. 2005 Qualifying Final vs Adelaide AS
A big final win against all odds in Adelaide. Slightly tainted by the fact we should have gone all the way from there.

8. 2008 Round 16 vs Hawthorn ES
Five goals down early in the third quarter against the eventual premiers. Then Blake and Roo went nuts and we reversed the score to win by 5 goals!

9. 1995 Round 9 vs Carlton Wav
Smashing the premiership favourites by nine goals in the wet at Waverley was unforgettable. Still the greatest upset of all time.

10. 1994 Round 7 vs Sydney SCG
8 goals down in the last quarter and through the brilliance of Lockett, Burke and Greig we pinched it by a point. Best comeback ever.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And....

11. 2007 Round 12 vs West Coast PS
Third bottom on the ladder and we upset the reigning premiers at home in Banger's 350th.

12. 2009 Round 14 vs Geelong ES
That game.

13. 2001 Round 22 vs Hawthorn MCG
We were second last, 22 points down against the team sitting 3rd, 10 minutes to play. 10 minutes later Barry Hall kicks a goal after the siren to win the game!

14. 1993 Round 4 vs Collingwood VP
That infamous game where Winmar lifted his jumper. They gave us everything that day and Nicky and Gilbert just tore them apart. The only win I ever saw at Vic Park.

15. 2010 Round 13 vs Geelong MCG
The whole world seemed against us and nobody rated us, but we kept the Cats goal-less in the second half and won comfortably.

16. 2004 Round 6 vs Brisbane ES
TS40. Say no more.

17. 1994 Round 18 vs Essendon MCG
We were rubbish in '94 but through accurate kicking we upset the reigning premiers by 10 points at the G against all odds.

18. 2010 Round 3 vs Collingwood ES
They tried everything against us, we lost Roo and Fisher, but we still won after kicking away in the final quarter.

19. 1999 Round 10 vs Geelong KP
Nearly six goals down early in the last we came back to win by 10pts. The most enjoyable trip home from that hole I've ever had.

20. 2012 Round 7 vs Carlton ES
What was feeling like the end of a great era now feels like the beginning of a great era.

Great list Beno88.

Spot on with every game.

I also liked our win over the blues in 89 at Morrabbin and the great win in Sydney in 97 to break the swans SCG streak.

That win over the Swans and the win over the Eagles at Subi in the same year were both amazing! We weren't used to seeing victories interstate back then.

don't remember 89 but this wasn't my favourite of our wins over the blues. 2004 when we beat them at princes park by 15 goals was better for me - really marked the start of something.

and of course the ts40 game in the same year. my favourite sporting moment ever. hell, my favourite moment ever. better than sex.

how did bowey get three brownlow votes when he only had ten touches?

danny craven did pretty well with 21 touches in his second game. not to mention plugger's 17 scoring shots. ridiculous.

what happened in the game?

Any win at Moorabbin in the 80's, which were few, but it was like we won the premiership. The crowd and atmosphere were awesome. Going home was always great after a win.

Can't remember actual dates or even years but my games attended.

Nth Melbourne 97 PF - I actually was in tears coz we made the big one.
Brisbane at Etihad packed house - schwarz kicking that long range goal
Collingwood at the G, the year before we lost by a point, then we won the next year by a point.
Collingwood at VP - flew down from brisvegas to be at that game. Been many times to VP and remembering never winning but that was one of the best. Nicky!!!
Carlton at their home game. Against the odds we won, another one where many games attended at PP and no wins. I think that was the year they won it (sorry bad memory)
Footscray when plugger kicked his 100 (yes I ran onto the ground) we nearly lost it but then won it.

Shoulda woulda coulda if only 2009 GF & 2010 drawn GF

Games I have not attended
Geelong classic set up at Etihad. Gardner takes the mark
WB PF final was watching on Internet, I jus about had a HA but we won
Sydney at SCG, down & out but came back to win.
Hawthorn at the G, thought no chance but won by three pts.
Essendon where we won by a ridiculous amount to sneak in the top 4.

Round 1 1979 v Hawks
First time I saw the saints play. I was a hawks supporter when the game began.

Round 22 v Port 1997
Sat amongst the Port members going crazy watching my team win the minor premiership.

Harvey's 350th v West Coast
What a finish. So fitting a tribute for the great man.

Round 14 2009 v Geelong
Possibly the greatest game ever played.

These 4 stand out for me.

1997 Prelim Final v North at MCG. Unbelievable feeling to be into the GF.

2004 Final v Sydney at MCG in the rain. Great hard slog from Frankie Peckett & midfielders. Gave us a chance v Port.

2005 Final v Adelaide at AAMI. Underdogs, but amazing win. Rob Harvey's joy!

2007 v West Coast in the west. Harvey's 350th. Unexpected win!!

2008 v Hawthorn (eventual Premiers) at Etihad. The 2nd half comeback & Blakes's best game ever.

2008. Round 22 v Essendon at Etihad. We needed to win by about 100 its to make top 4 - and we did. Amazing atmosphere!

2009. Round 14 v Geelong. Full house. Amazing atmosphere - most exciting game I can remember. Gardener's great mark!!

2009. Prel Final v Bulldogs. We actually made the GF (bring on the Premiership)

2010 Qualifying Final v Geelong at MCG. What an upset & what controversy!!

2012 Monday night's game v Carlton. Start of a new exciting era?

1993 beating Collingwood at Vic Park Round 4 for first time in decades! I was 16 and had been there a few times and seen us get whalloped everytime.
That was heaven for any saints supporter there! Also the Winmar raising the jumper game!

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

The 1994 game against the Swans is the first game of AFL I can remember watching and is the reason I go for St Kilda. The last 1/4 is posted on youtube. I have been looking for a full copy of the game but no luck. Anybody have any ideas on where I could find a copy?

I was going nuts that night as a young feller getting to go to my first real final and when Burkey and Bret Cookie monster removed Corey Mc Kernans shoulder blade the saints fans were like ferals at the colosseum. I though atmosphere was getting pissed guys bump your back at Moorabin before that.

here's 30mins of the match ;)

What happened?

Well we were rampant underdogs.
But we took it up to Caaaarlton.
Were in front most of the day.
Plugger was at the peak of his powers - absolutely AWESOME.

Then just when we thought we were about to win a famous victory the Criminals came back, and then deeeep into the last quarter one of their hyphenated midgets (Fraser-Murphy?) kicked a goal at the Highway end to put them in front.
Scenes of despair.

Then.
A centre bounce.
Jack Daniels bore in and grabbed the ball.
A long handball to Winmar steaming down the outer wing.
In space.
Anyone else would have had a rush of blood and gone for the goal, but Elvis spotted Plugger leading to the scoreboard pocket and delivered perfectly eluding the spoiling fist of Silvagni.
Plugger goes back.
Kicks the goal.
SIREN.

Moorabbin just went off like it never did before or since.
There were people dancing and hugging and crying like we had won the Premiership.
Animal pit was ballistic.
I lost my voice for 2 days.

BEST H&A game EVER !!!!!!
