Umpires and goals...

Post: # 1242506Post saintsRrising »

Two blantant frees to Siposs not paid..one head high and one in the back.

Soft in the back against BJ of the type that is never paid and you see countless times per any ame.
Schneider laysa beautiful tackle 20 out..Swans drop it...but no free.

Saints goal given touched...when no touch.

etc etc

Umps are slaughtering us.

Paul Roos though the maggots were great. Swans actually got the worse of them.

Umpires didn't lose us this match. There were plenty of shockers for both teams. Inaccuracy and poor kicking was the kicker. If we're going to blaze away, go to the top of the square not to the pocket of 35m out...

Don't underestimate the SCG advantage either. We didn't adapt.

Free kick count was favourable to the Saints. Argue all you like about the quality of thse decisions but they are the reason trhe Saints lost today. Battye sums this up well.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

What was the free against Goddard for I still don't know.

his hands were in the sydney player's back. soft one but definitely there unless you closed your eyes for the replays.

Goddard? Even in slow motion there appeared to be no contact. The maggot assumed a push because the meth dealer grubbed the kick ffs.

Slipping over in the last quarter when we were a goal down put the game out of reach. This happen twice, for 2 goals against us. Roo's miss did not help either deep in the last it should have been a captains goal and put us in front.

Kosi was also to blame. Gave away a silly 50 yet again. A weekly event for him.

And kneed Roo in the head.

Goddard didn't make any contact as far as i could see.

I think the free was paid for his intention to put the hands in the swans players back.

Disgraceful umpiring.

He definitely had hands in his back. Very soft ans a lot of times would not be paid.

Yep, technically was a free, even though it was soft as butter.

Our kicking for goal cost us, not umpiring.

He had his hands on his waist/buttocks. Is that a push in the back?

What does the rule stipulate?

Also, the Kosi one on LRT. Ball is in dispute and Kos pushes him away, from the side. Is this not the same as a sheperd?

btw, not blaming poor umpiring for losing the game but it was crucial at times thats for sure and the umpires need to be better.

Game was already out of reach at that stage, just rubbed more salt in the wounds. Do umpires hate him or is Kosi really as clumsy as his 50m penalty tally suggests?

The SCG is one ground Roo just can't come to terms with.

He can get around it, but just can't find the big sticks there.

That one on LRT was nearly the dumbest thing Kosi kas done which is saying something.

Even Paul Roos disagrees with you on that one. He said something along the lines of "hands just slid off his shorts".

Pity we didn't get to hear what the goal umpire said. I reckon Roos got that one right when he said I don't care about what the boundary umpire thinks or what the field umpire thinks it should be up to the goal umpire.

The free against Goddard was incredibly soft. As Pickering said, it happens 100 times in a match.

McGlynn's goal in the second quarter was a little harsh on Dempster but they get paid all the time. It should have been a free to Dempster before that when he got both hands on a mark and Goodes took his arms.

Jetta's mark and goal from a 7m pass was a bit suss.

Mattner taking on Schneider 20m out from our goal and dropped the ball.

A few went our way as well but it's no fun talking about them.
