Re: Mark Neeld
I think Ross Lyon would make a better assistant.
Actually Neeld Versus Lyon would be a great debate and the leading argument would start with asking the question as to whether Neeld would have gone better if he was given a better list to start with. From what I heard he had a very autocratic and dogmatic style which is very similar to Lyon however Lyon had a group that was ready to buy into the boot camp approach.

Lance or James??

Re: Mark Neeld
Was highly regarded at Collingwood and im guessing Watters would have worked alongside him at Collingwood for a period of time, and if so, must have an opinion on him one way or another.
Does anyone know what role Neeld was tasked with at Collingwood ?
Cant say that he ever impressed me with his demeanour but must have learnt something sitting in the head coaches chair.

Huh? What are you on about? Assistant coach costs something like $100-$150k a year.
Stop spouting garbage.

Re: Mark Neeld
I've no way of knowing but he could potentially do better as an assistant with senior coach experience as well. Who knows? Is he a clear thinker and communicator with the ability to inspire?
then maybe.
GO SAINTS!

Re: Mark Neeld
There might be a clash of egos/personalities here - both Watters and Neeld started as Assistants (same level), one is now a tried/failed Coach and the other an Actual Coach.
I just wonder whether a person such as Neeld, with such a strong ego/personality, could "comfortably" work with Watters - I doubt it. We need a 100% committed Coaching team.

Too many mental scars!
I'm keen on someone fresh from the game.
Is Brad Sewell available?

He could only coach us the days it didnt clash with the Hawks playing.
Re: Mark Neeld
Simon Black playing on next year?
What a player he has been. A mid 20s Simon Black would be well suited to the congested footy of today. His release handballs were the best I've seen.
