Re: Tommy Lee
I was very pleased with him last year . Great first year.
And I have no doubt the shoulder surgery (2 lots I think) has held him back but my concern his he might have gone a little backwards . This is based on his physical appearance and that thus far he has struggled to get a kick in the VFL.
I certainly haven't given up on him. Just putting up a red flag.
He needs to get his body right.

Here are a few tricks for you Pluggs. Great balance and agility, somewhat cat-like at times... and great awareness of options around him.plugger66 wrote: Apart from being a great kick he doesnt have anything special at all. .

And again, I reckon it's hard for any key Saints forward to play in our Roo-centric forward... so many good leads, so much effort to achieve good positioning... goes unrewarded, coz we can kick it to Roo and his three or four mates who all wear jumpers that don't have the tri-panel.
I mean, Pluggs, even your good self... early-on it was tough. You really shone though once Jacko was moved on...
All the posters who have pointed out Tom's physique are correct, but as Gringo and others have also pointed out... bilateral shoulder surgery would put anyone back, way back, and particularly so someone of his body type I'd reckon.
I reckon we just need to have a bit more patience. Tom was starting to come along very nicely late last year once his fitness built up. He'll be very good for us IMHO.
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?

Well lets be honest, its much easier to say on a Saints supporters site that a player will make it then say he may not. I dont think he has any special tricks and I refuse to watch highlights tapes of any player unless they also have their bloopers tapes as well. As Ive said many times on that lenny highlights tapes would show a great tackler and good kick an average mark and no real speed and doesnt kick many goals. it wont show him busting his gut or his big heart.
I hope Tommy Lee makes it just as i hope any saints player does but we probably said the same things about LJ Conners or Gamble when he came to the club. Its not often I have a real go at saints players and even now i havent I have just said to me he seems slow for a burst type forward and cant get to many second and third contests. That maybe because of fitness though. Speed wont be.

Re: Tommy Lee
We really don't need another Ryan Gamble type.
From what I saw of Lee on tv last year, he wasn't slow like Gamble, was he?
Or am I mistaken?

WTF have you not read what people write on here? Most of this site is negative. I would say bagging our players and writing the players off with in their first 20 games is pretty much par for the course. Then a bit of I told you so and a little bit of laying claim to them and pretending that you helped them by giving the a kick up the arse if they take off.

Re: Tommy Lee
I hope he gets his body right and settles in, as we need a marking forward other than Roo. Lee, Maister and Stanley are the only options we have, but none have set the world on fire though Lee did show some good things last season- Maister is a stop-gap KPP and Stanley needs to start stamping himself on the contest, but I don't think he has the mongrel in him as a tall to go much further. Longer may be a dark horse waiting in the wings as may be White.

Re: Tommy Lee
There's Siposs, too, though he's a bit undersized for a key forward. He is a natural goalkicker though.spert wrote:I hope he gets his body right and settles in, as we need a marking forward other than Roo. Re: Tommy Lee
He has to come good. I can't see how you can be dominating WAFL then get drafted onto an afl list and with training full time not be able to dominate VFL ? It has to be injury IMO. We just need a bit of patience.
Re: Tommy Lee
Yep, we don't need him to be peaking now (although it would be nice), we need him hitting his straps over the next year or two. In any event, I see him as a third tall.

Didnt Maister do the same in the WAFL. I think its a pretty ordinary comp played on big grounds with little contact because of the size of the grounds.

In the unlikely event that he becomes a star Plugger, we'll never let you forget this.

I would love to be proven wrong. There are one or two posters on here who would want someone to fail just to be proven right. If I am wrong then big deal. No one even knows anyone so why it would worry them is beyond me. Hope i am proven wrong by the end of the year.

He'd become a star if he was in another porno with Pam. That's all he can hang his hat on.

Re: Tommy Lee
I have not been overlay impressed with Tom
Jury is still out on him ATM
He needs to make an impact in the back half of the season to get another contract IMO
