Gilbert and Templeton will step in as assistant coaches to Phil Carman on Saturday for the Burras’ clash against Ballarat at Marty Busch Reserve.

Just for a change though, Sebastopol is dropping its “Kookaburras” tag and becoming the Sebastopol Saints in the Ballarat Football League. At least for one week.

Sebastopol is strengthening its ties with AFL club St Kilda as part of a special fundraiser for prostate cancer awareness.

Gilbert, sidelined with foot troubles, brings plenty of experience to Sebastopol.

The reliable defender has chalked up 143 AFL games, including the 2010 grand finals.

First-year midfielder Templeton (fractured arm) quickly won over fans with his dashing play when promoted from the Saints’ rookie list to play the opening six rounds.

Saints’ head of football Chris Pelchen and Ted Whitten junior – son of AFL Hall of Fame member Ted Whitten and prostate cancer research advocate – will also speak at a special club function on game day

go the burra .....I played under 10/12/14 for Sebas, as well as did the scoreboard for the seniors when i was about 13 years old ..also underage and reserves cricket....great to see the Saints getting involved with a community that loves its footy and has obviously lost its way in the last few years. ...... in a rough year (s) for Saints supporters, its great to see the club still helping, growing, supporting football and those who love it ....

Great day overall with senior netball the big winner making it two in a row in their prostate blue bibs well done girls. Great result also on Saturday night with a 6 grand donation to the E J Whitten foundation after a huge day of fundraising by our club, lots of work by many volunteers and generous support from people attending. Special mention to the young netballers and footballers who helped serve meals at lunchtime. New major sponsor Watersun Builders special support from St Kilda football club and the Sebas spirit is well and truly alive.

it was also announced that Watersun ( Saints sponsor) are also sponsoring Sebastopol for the next 2 and 1/2 years- and this link was made without Watersun knowing the saints had a connection at Seabstopol- but they had looked at someone in the area to sponsor.
