Likely this will happen.
If that happens, I'd be over the moon. I would of thought our pick 22 would be included.
Me to, or 21

Would love to see us trade 1, 21, 22 for GWS' 4, 6, 7 and 24. I realise it probably won't happen but that would be ideal :)

Better.

I dunno, but with our history I cant shake the feeling that we will manage to pull three duds out of the top ten.

I reckon we'll have to add something to that to get it done. Most likely our pick 21.

If so, it would be a sensational deal for our club.

Is Petracca worth more to them than to us?

I actually don't quite understand why GWS would sell the house for Petracca while we are so willing to trade him away.

Because GWS, just like the Gold Coast before them, have to reduce the numbers on their list !! They have the exact opposite problem we do. They are willing to unload multiple really good draft picks to get one outstanding draft pick. GWS are actually doing exactly what they need to do here (if they trade 4, 6, 7 for our pick 1). They bring in an elite senior midfielder, and another number one pick, and trade out kids that wanted to go home due to lack of game time etc. to make it happen. They reduce their list size and only bring in elite talent. We just happen to be in the right place at the right time to be the beneficiaries of their needs. Jaksch, Whiley & pick 19 for pick 7. Neither kid was a regular, and pick 19 to GWS is like pick 60 to us. If they're smart they'll do the same thing again next year too. They'll bundle up players and picks that are attractive to standard clubs to work up the draft order or land top end senior players.

Their list is still 48 players and they need to get that down to 40 !! Plus they still need to bring players in via the draft every year like everyone else. They will be expecting more kids to want out next year too, so watch for them working that into top end picks and class senior players, probably for another two years. They also have one problem that the Suns don't. Most kids would be happy to live on the Gold Coast to play footy, can't necessarily say the same for Western Sydney

I think there will always be a sadness if Petracca kills it at another club - however, if we end up with 3 gun footballers - maybe 2 midfielders & a tall forward in lieu of Petracca, you'd have to take it. We don't have the talent pool at the club high enough to justify 1 over 3.

agreed
if you got 3 very good players over one great player you take it every day of the week
just need the three you pick to come to fruition

cmon saints
get cameron or some decent picks
so many scenarios
pick 1 for
4,6,7 (surely not!)
4,7 AND 24
4,6 AND 24
pick 1 and 21 for cameron and 24
?

Note sure they would give us three low picks.

But perhaps say 1 for 4, 7 and 24 or for 4, 7,24 and 40?

24 and 40 will not be worth much to them given the quality of their list.

If any other good players are floating around - we could always then flick Swans 41 for Membrey & force a player into the PSD if there's someone good we are wanting but can't do a deal on currently.

Could Tom Boyd end up an over-sized version of Tom Scully?
Maybe its GWS payback.
Seven year contract for Boyd.

For Doggies sake, hope not.

does anyone realize why this is so appealing to GWS?? because after Petracca the others aren't really rated, they want the only good pick up this year, we need to hold draft pick 1 and rape GWS for forwards later

I totally agree. This swap wont happen as GWS would not be so stupid. They would offer 2 for one of not at all. I never thought the enticement of picks 21 and 22 would amount to anything so I was surprised to see Stanley go.

I can only hope but think there is a 2 % possibility.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Love the fact that everyone is saying this won't happen like they are in the know.

If Jaxons says 4,6,7 for 1 is most likely you can bet your house that it's most likely to happen.

Runs on the board.

Last year 4 6 7 was Bont Scharenberg Aish.
Amazing.

Chances are this year wont be as good but fair to say there will be some good players in there.

1 for 4 6 7 I don't see, would have to throw in 21 and 22. 3 top 10 picks is outstanding

Mark Stevens (a doggies man) was on mmm earlier. He seems to be across a lot of what is happening.

He was saying that it wasn't that unrealistic for GWS to offer 4, 6, and 7 for our 1. reckons that GWS have loads of young talent and are now being more particular. Clubs know that the saints won't give up pick 1 unless something very special is offered. Well I reckon this is something very special. GWS get Petracca who they are desperate to snare. AND they have a gun mid in Griffen. Doggies finally end up with a key fwd. Saints get their 3 picks inside top 10 which we desperately need to rebuild. Winners all round

no one is saying it wont happen becasue they are in the know
its jsut that would you swap 3 top 8 picks for pick one??
no
neither would 99% of us

its everyones opinion not because everyone is in the know
if jax says look out it will happen then its disbelief from us because we cannot believe gws would do it

nothing to do with being 'in the know' 8-)

You just have to look at their reserves team to appreciate their depth. They are at a stage where they are cherry picking the elite of the elite. Petracca for those picks is perfect for them.
