Daniel Mckenzie

Post: # 1519379Post RodKeoghsLoveChild »

Decided to look through the 2014 TAC Oakleigh Chargers results to get a gauge on this kid.

He didn't do much in the way of votes.

One kid who was always in the votes was Kade Answerth. Does anyone know much about him?
Surprised he never got selected as he was always in the best, compared to only a few times for McKenzie.

8 times out of 10 in the regular season Answerth was named amongst the best.
3/3 named amongst the best in the finals, including the Grand Final.
11/13 for the year.

De Gooey, Moore and Mckenzie combined didn't make the best for that amount.

Never seen the kid play, but how can he not get drafted on the back of those numbers?

Its happens many times. Some players aren't suited for AFL footy.

He may get a rookie spot, keep an eye on it and report back if gets in that way.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Rookie spot? The bloke should captain the Saints after that performance.

McKenzie is the one selection that I can't quite see where he fits. More flanker than mid - will be curious to see what he has that made our recruiters so keen on him.

Reminds me of Alistair Smith. Hope he makes it, but nothing excites me greatly.

Fortunato Caruso won the Morrish Medal twice in the mid-00s but was never drafted, mostly because he was about 5'6". Your mate Answerth is 180cm and 75kg so he looks like he should be about the right size. Who knows what the issue is? Will probably be rookied.

Take away / spread from congestion with damaging disposal.

We could use a few more of this type, especially if he/they can adapt to hitting midfield packs and putting their heads over the ball.

Well as long as he can get his hands on it often enough should have a role to play

best comparison I can think of right now is David King...

similar size... strong overhead... burst speed
