FORMER First Class cricketer and newly appointed St Kilda GM of Football Performance, Jamie Cox, will make his return to the pitch in February in the name of charity.

The Saints will take on local cricket club the Seaford Tigers next month in a the second annual T20 to support Pink Stumps Day at Belvedere Reserve, opposite their home base at Linen House Centre.

When: Wednesday 4 February
Time: 5.30pm start
Where: Belvedere Park, East Road, Seaford
Entry: Gold coin donation

THE Seaford Tigers Cricket Club pulled off a miraculous last-ditch win over a St Kilda Football Club XI on Wednesday night, belting 13 runs off the final over to overhaul the Saints 9-161.

The charity game, which raised more than $3000 for the McGrath Foundation, attracted a crowd of over 500 fans to Belvedere Park

Slightly tongue in cheek but this gives me a chance to revive my very unpopular city v country debate

And before any screaming about definitions- my definition of a country (or non-metro) kid is "anyone (who played the majority of their junior footy) outside of 40km from the GPO of a capital city."
I also think this definition should be adjusted in 2020 to 50km to account for population growth/urban sprawl in capital cities.

Saints greats such as Plugger, Baldock, Stewie, Winmar, Frawley, NDS, BJ, Roo, Chips, Schneids all meet my definition of 'country'. Harves (just), Milney, Joey and Lenny are classified 'city kids' under this definition.

Now considering around 65% of the entire population live within 40km of a capital city GPO - clearly the other 35% are punching above their weight.
