Neither was Trevor Barker, Greg Burns or Joffa Cunningham. Sometimes team don't resurge. Anyway this is about guessing what the club will do, not what you would do.

I wouldn't write off Ray. He's only 29, a 200-gamer. If we play finals two years from now he'll be right in the picture along with Gilbert. Both have actually played AFL finals,

IMO Ray's underrated. Durable, consistent and versatile. A professional and vastly experienced.

As for the other two, Fisher's body is beginning to let him down which suggests he might be closer to the end than we would like.

Schneider was rookie listed for this season, so that might be an indication of the club's thinking.

Then again, his form has been very, very solid. So who knows.

I am pretty confident though that the club will not be retiring guys in a knee jerk response to their birth certificate. It's form that keeps spots on the list. Not age.

Big Carl, I agree with most of your post in general, but there are a couple of things i wanted to add...

Fisher's body isn't starting to let him down, it started to let him down 2 years ago! This is the most senior footy he's played for 2 seasons...The thing in his favour is at his best he's still a bloody good player, when he was at his peak, he was a star of the comp, full stop.

To say that the club wont make list descions based on age is just too wishful i reckon. The club has been so methodical about it's 'list profile', it actually seems to be all about age/games played bar the exception of a select few guns who are good enough to fend off father time. As mentioned in another thread, the only reason we are probably playing so many oldies is because it's either young or old, not much middle ground on our list, something that is being methodically corrected by Bains and co...

Would almost bank that Schneider will gone next year, irrepective of form...methodical list profile readjustment, call it what you will...

With the better training these days many GOOd players can play to 33 or even 35+

So it makes no sense to just dump players 3, 5, 7 years before you need to. That makes your team over time worse, not better.

May have been an error from the media dept ...an article that was on saints.com.au earlier today said he had been ruled out from Sandringham as well due to back soreness.

Article has since been re-written.
