Murdoch most possessions is awesome. He is quality.

In a shallow draft, let's promote Holmes!

You know folks, it's no accident that most of the really successful clubs, have had a strong and competitive reserve side. One of the most heartening things for me this year (aside from the senior Saints' development) has been the rise of the Sandringham side to be one of the VFL leading sides. This can only fast-track our overall development as a club! GO Sandy!

Sandy are 3rd on the VFL Ladder but have the 7th best %.

Amazing how they keep winning the close ones.

Matches to come:

Werribee (7th) Away
Richmond (12th) Away
Port (9th) Home
Blues (11th) Away
Cats (10th) Home
Casey (6th) Home

This week (Werribee Away) looks like the hardest match left. The last five all look very winnable.

+ 2.

Geelong case in point. When they were up their VFL side was awesome. Now they are below average in both.
Hawks-Box Hill as well (both consistently up).
Blues (consistently below average).

When you consider this is only Holmes second season of aussie rules ( let alone VFL/AFL), I think he is doing an amazing job. His rate of improvement in 12 months is staggering. So I think we elevate next year or can we re-rookie him?

You can re rookie anyone anytime but after 3 years you don't have the rights to him above any other club. I would be pretty sure not many if any other clubs would be interested.

Given the rapid improvement, I would have thought he is definitely worth considering. As I said he's had very little exposure to the game, and yet some on here see him ahead of Longer. I'm not one of those, but certainly see his long term potential.

And to think I thought I said not many if any. That must mean no one. I should have written that.

And the answers to those amazing questions IMO are

Really? Don't get the question.

Wasting time? No I don't think so

Last one. No idea. maybe they like him. I think there have been hundreds of players over the years that other clubs haven't wanted.

great work mords
from what ive read and highlights ive seen he seemed like he was headign in the right direction
seems like he can leap and tap to players fine
now just need him to get to right spots and take marks etc etc around the ground

hopefully gets another crack at it

what about saunders
do we persist
really liked his efforts when i first saw him but just seems to butcher it by foot
is he killing it coz he is at 100mph? or is he just a butcher all the time

what about cons man the bull?
saw him early on and seems to have disappeared too

sometimes i wish i lived in melb

Some classic wet weather footy at about 1:32:00

Coburg player gets a free just backward of the centre circle. He tries to unleash a bomb and it travels about 15m and hits TDL on the chest. TDL tries the same and the ball must carry / bounce / slide about 75m where Saad wins the footrace and kicks an easy goal.

Around the same time, but I can't find it. One Coburg player kicks the ball out of the hands of another Coburg player and the umpire pays kicking in danger. Then he seems confused about which team gets the kick.

Holmes is the best tap ruckman on our list, can take a grab and kick a goal. If, and it's a big if, he can learn where and when to run then he will have a future. Upside is big but odds are he won't make it.

I reckon.
