I would
The difference is that Ryder was contracted. Carlisle is out of contract & seemingly desperate to get out of Essendon.

I wouldn't trade either of Longer or Hickey for Carlisle let alone them plus our 2nd round pick.

If he doesn't choose Carlton (which I believe he will) then we're right in the mix.

2nd rounder & possibly a fringe player. Definitely not critically important players like Longer or Hickey.

Hasn't this year just about proved that both will struggle to play in the same side? Well they have to me. I certainly don't think we need both but I'm sure we will keep both.

Essendon's Jake Carlisle will most likely be at St.Kilda next season if he doesn't re-sign with the Bombers according to Matthew Lloyd.
St.Kilda are reportedly offering Carlisle $700,000 per season.

It would be huge for us. Seriously, where else are we going to land an elite defender? The people on this forum are becoming so risk-averse we may as well turn the club into a boarding school with full time surveillance and daily meetings with life coaches.

Means we can also load up on mids in the draft from now on.

Hope it is true. Just do not give them Ross. Ross will be a player.

If I was Essendon. I would do a straight swap with the suns. Harley for Carlisle.

Bennel is bad news. Only the tip of the iceberg what we all get told.

Agree. I think Ross is going to be good. We need his big body in the clearance. An area we have been poor at.
I expect Ross to be our number one clearance man.

Some club will take him and my guess is they know pretty much everything that he has done. Worth the risk. Pick 9 might get us a Moylan type.

Box seat - apparently have thrown the house at him.

Essendon over a barrel as he is OOC.

Can walk to the PSD and we can blow anyone out of the water with a front loaded Contract.

Still much to happen before he is in RW&B

Would like

Mid with #5

Carlisle - 2nd round

Rice F&S

Sinclair - upgrade

Maybe a trade or two

Not so sure on that. Blues first pick and will have HUGE salary cap free after this years clean out. This may include Kruezer who is reportedly on a big contract at the Blues which concluded this year. If he re-signs it will be on less.

Lions should have ample as well.

However hopefully nominates us as that will make it more likely.

The conspiracy theory is that we have been into him for ages and this is whay Delany fell out of favour.

Still cant see a pick 27 getting it done. We will have to somehow end up with a pick inside 20. Probably around 15.

Should we start a trade/draft thread so all this talk can go in the one place?

You are probably correct unless it is a second rounder and steak knives. Would only happen if he nominates us though.

However he is disgruntled and is OOC.

We wont use our first pick on him I wouldn't think

Can he play midfield? Is he a fast, outside goal kicker?!

Nah, but in all seriousness I'm a Carlisle fan and he would be a great get. Just think we need more quality mids and the rest can look after itself.

I'd be happy to part with our 2nd pick. Our first is untouchable.

While Collingwood load up with onballer, we become land of the Giants.

At least we'll win the last quarters.

I agree that Carlisle would be a huge get, considering his age and his talent. However there is one little thing hanging over his head that some of us may have forgotten about........ If the bombers escape serious sanction then it's a fantastic get, BUT if they get what many on here want, it's a waste of time picking up him or anyone else associated with that club. The problem is, we won't know the outcome until early next year if we're lucky, so it will be a gamble of a different type (compared to Bennell) if we try and lure him across.

It's pretty important that we get him to officially nominate us now. I don't want to get into a bidding war with Carlton who will likely have 3 top 10 picks.

Once we get the kid enjoying life again he will be a star.
