Or are we talking about Saints? Key Fwds??
Snr and Matthews fair enough. Debatable & likely impossible to decide.

But Carey; Plugger (and those 2) have him covered easily.

I feel Carey has been overrated due to the success of his team and the love affair Mike Sheehan in particular had with him.

A champion player, no doubt, but he basically couldn't mark overhead. For a player of his position, strength and ability, this was a massive weakness. He modeled his game to get around it, nearly always marking on his chest which is a credit to his reading of the ball, but when push comes to shove he was not a complete player, and at the very very top level of comparison, such a flaw rules him out of the conversation.

Carey is in the gap between Rooey and Plugger, and is closer to #12 than #4. Hard to split Carey with Dunstall.

As an aside (and a fun swipe at Carlton) all of the above mentioned are above Kernahan who I believe is the most overrated champion forward of that 10/20 year period.

Was Kernahan really any better than Stewart Loewe?

Whilst one of the better players of his generation, Loewe doesn't really rate alongside names such as Plugger, Matthews, Gazza etc but I'd take him ahead Sticks everyday of the week

Kernahan and Loewe very compatible .... I'd rate sticks just ahead... He was a great player.

Both better than Brereton IMO .... Brereton was a better version of Hamill .... His presence often overshadowed his output.

Was probably the best player I've ever seen.

f****** kernahan.... His hair and voice automatically bring him down to a Leigh-brown type level...

His name should not be part of a Lockett thread, ever.

That's a silly comment.

Sticks was a champion... That simple. His career is highly decorated for a reason. Loewe also a great player. Tredrea also a great CHF.

None of those three as good as Lockett or Riewoldt...

Lockett one on the greatest forwards in the history of the game.

The best thing 'sticks' ever did was tearing his filthy cheating club in two by sacking his mate, perpetuating their rightful place on the bottom of the ladder.

Should be remembered for captaining his club to a premiership when they were caught cheating… another filthy cheat…

Should not be mentioned in the same breath as Riewoldt let alone Lockett who kicked twice as many goals playing in rubbish sides that were at least honoring the salary cap > not filthy cheats.

At least we're all on the same page... Kernahan not in the locketts ballpark.

Cheating to Carlton is like not quoting to you... It's their thing.

Very few are in Locketts ballpark?! Only 4 other fwds even rival him... Perhaps none better, it's speculative?

Quoting is only necessary for imbeciles

Kernahan also played and dominated for Glenelg and SA in state of Origin
He was a multiple B&F
Multiple AA
Dual Premiership Capt
Longest serving VFL/AFL Capt
Multiple Leading Goalkicker (from CHF)

Sticks was a champion. It's that simple.

Lockett, a legend

Riewoldt will be an all time great
