Who are we going to delist?
As we have now acquired Jack Steele and Koby seems a formality, doesn't it bring our list back to its maximum number? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that means in order to make the mandatory three picks in the draft, we need to offload three players, or at the very least, two. By my reckoning, with Holmes upgraded, and our acquisitions, we have 41 on the list plus 2 rookie spots. Given Chips future is still uncertain, who else is in danger?
If Ameet sticks to his word and we don't trade anyone else out for picks, at least a couple have to go. All those remaining would be a bit stiff to lose their spots, but I'd think Chips, Shents and Murdoch would be first cabs off the rank. Maybe one will be redrafted with a junk pick. Any thoughts?

Re: Who are we going to delist?
I don't know if any of the guys out of contract have much chance of making it: Murdoch, Shenton, Lee, Templeton,
We need to move on from Fisher too.
Maybe hold onto Lee as a versatile back-up?
I still think we'll trade out though.

Those three are the most likely with Eli the only other possibility.White Winmar wrote:As we have now acquired Jack Steele and Koby seems a formality, doesn't it bring our list back to its maximum number? Re: Who are we going to delist?
Delist Murdoch, Shenton and Lee. Delist and rookie FIsher. Trade Templeton if possible
Effectively
Out: Curren, Murdoch, Shenton, Lee, Fisher, Templeton, Delaney, Saunders (r), Payne (r), Holmes (r)
In: Steele, Stevens, Brown (?), Holmes, 3 National Draft Picks, Fisher (r)

Re: Who are we going to delist?
I would keep Lee and Shenton. I thought Lee did well enough when he played and KPP don't grow on trees.
Shenton is also more than a handy player, he's explosive and can play HBF, wing, and forward.
I would delist Templeton and Murdoch, and potentially give Murdoch a second chance on the rookie list.
Chips as much as I hate to say it, I think we can do without him now.

Murdoch - plenty of chances to become senior player couldn't get there
Shenton - Good VFL player but 0 games this year
Lee- a midget backline of Roberton, Gilbert , Dempster was preferred to Lee says something to me.
Templeton - numerous in his position who have gone past him

Re: Who are we going to delist?
Now that we have signed Nathan Brown we need to delist 4 more players to make room for Steele,Stevens and Brown with three selections in the draft.older saint wrote:Delist all of:bakes wrote:I would keep Lee and Shenton. I thought Lee did well enough when he played and KPP don't grow on trees.

Murdoch,Shelton,Lee, Templeton and Chips are the likely ones unless we trade out a player for a draft pick inside 30

Fisher, Lee, Murdock and Shenton to be delisted if nobody traded out.

Re: Who are we going to delist?
I'd hang on to Lee. Cost us plenty in terms of acquisition and development. I still think he's a natural forward. Don't forget Roo is near the end and I reckon Membrey might end up a high half forward/midfielder like Ryan O'Keefe. Unfortunately, I think the signing of Brown means the end of chips. Farewell to a great player, it seems.

Re: Who are we going to delist?
Geez it would be disappointing if we gave up on Templeton so quickly. He is only 21 and has been one of the best all year for Sandy. I think he has struggled since the broken arm.

The mods are looking at delisting Locals322, maybe sending him/her back to the Filth

Re: Who are we going to delist?
Surely Brown has to come at the cost of Fish. We can't be playing an even older backline than last year. That would be crazy.

Re: Who are we going to delist?
Ouch !
Assuming Koby Stevens comes in as well, we will have 41 players on our senior list plus Jason Holmes needing to be upgraded or go to the draft.
We have to add Holmes plus 2 from the draft or just 3 from the draft.
44 into 40 does not go.
So when you include Holmes you have to come up with 4 names.
That is unless our recruiters are able to upgrade our picks by selling one or more of our fringe players.
Brisbane would you like to clog your list with our fringe players ?
You know they are better than your existing fringe players.

Re: Who are we going to delist?
It'd be ideal if we could keep Chips as a rookie and perhaps preserve him until the end of the year or manage him without playing him everey week for Sandringham. Then if we get injuries to our backline and when we really need him he joins his old mates in the finals.
For a demanding physical contact sport like AFL, why is it that you can only have 38 min -40 max listed players? It used to be 50 players back in the 90's didn't?

Re: Who are we going to delist?
The obvious candidates to me are 1) Templeton (look at the mids we have gone after in the last week and compare Templeton) 2) Murdoch (given a couple of games because of his disposal but then passed by the likes of McKenzie and White), 3) Shenton (in competition with the likes of Weller and Wright with Wright getting games ahead of Shenton after Minchington was discarded) and 4) Minchington (debuted in 2013 - has played 23 games for 18 goals including 13 for 6 goals in 2016 before Wright moved ahead of him and stayed there).
With the introduction of Brown to play at full back, Fisher can be retained on the Rookie List pending the development of Goddard and as cover for our only 2 genuine KPP defenders, Carlisle and now Brown.
I am also not certain that Holmes is required with Hickey, Longer and Pierce.

Re: Who are we going to delist?
The reason you have only 38-40 on a list is because of the salary cap.
It works well for shyte teams so they are forced to overpay players and have less scope for development with less players.

Lee might be retained as insurance, as there's no saying Paddy can suddenly get over his concussion issues and have an uninterrupted season next year.

Re: Who are we going to delist?
Eli nearly won the VFL b & f.
would be harsh to see him go. I am a little surprised another club hasnt requested a trade for him.
Shenton - Cult figure. Would be sad to see him go.
Lee - Well I was always a believer in him - but now I dont see the point unless he can get super fit and work on his rebounding.
Murdoch - It is a cut throat business but he probably should be delisted.
Holmes and Pierce - Both borderline.
Fisher - cant possibly see how he can stay now we have Brown and Carlisle. Club legend and should be treated with utmost respect. Happy if he is given a coaching role.
