St Kilda have emerged in a two-way battle with the Western Bulldogs to feature in Good Friday football next season, with North Melbourne virtually assured of hosting the stand alone game for the second year running.

Re: Good Friday Saints?
Let's hope so. Even as an away game we need a marque fixture.
The only days worth playing over Easter are the Thursday night prior, Good Friday or Easter Monday. Weekend fixtures during Easter are useless.

If the AFL are undecided about whether to give it to us or the Dogs, they’ll probably give it to Collingwood.

Seems Good Friday footy is inevitable though, as religious sensibilities are no longer an argument against it for many people. I hope we're not a part of it when it happens. But if we are, I guess the world will keep turning...

AFL fixture whispers:
St Kilda eyes Good Friday, AFL set to deny Collingwood and Melbourne’s request for Round 1 blockbuster in 2018
JAY CLARK, Herald Sun

NORTH Melbourne will host either Western Bulldogs, Carlton or St Kilda on Good Friday next year.
As the AFL prepares to release the full 2018 fixture next week, the Dogs’ hold on the marquee game from last year is in jeopardy. The Saints could take the Dogs’ place.
The Roos will travel to Cazaly Stadium in Cairns to play Gold Coast on Saturday March 24 in Round 1.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Big percentage boosts against those two teams. Should be on top with 300% after 2 rounds. It's all downhill from there though most likely.SMS wrote:We play round 1 satuday and the dogs sunday would suggest we win

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
