Doom and gloom central on SS.net
C'mon Saints fans. There is too much doom and gloom, pessimism and cynicism floating about in some quarters on here atm. The season hasn't even started and some people are writing the club off already.
Off field, the Saints are looking better than ever and are returning to Moorabbin ASAP.
On field, I reckon we have a deep and even list with tons of young talent on the rise.
Yep. I'm more realistic than anyone, but things aren't that bad...seriously. I know this is a good place to fire off a rant (like facebook ), but where is the postivity? Get around the side.
Patience and time are the two wisest sages in life. Things will get better!!

Re: Doom and gloom central on SS.net
Good post. No point trying to evaluate where we're at just yet. Practice matches mean very little.
The first month of the season will give us a great indication of where we're at. We start with the two sides who played off for the 2017 wooden spoon, then play three of last season's preliminary finalists.
Until then, it's all guess work.

Agree. It's not all doom and gloom but there are some huge holes in our team that are yet to be fixed. Realistic rather than pessimistic or optimistic in my opinion. The Fireman wrote:just keepin it real.

Where we are after 6 rounds will give us a fair indication.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Football as a whole..as an experience...has lost SO MUCH of what once made it so great. Its not just our team the saints. Just one small part of the picture.
Even up until the mid 2000's and beyond it was still a great experience.
Now, I can take it or leave it.

I'd take that right now. Would leave us in the mix. It's going to be like the last two years. Always in the mix, but just out of reach. Tantalis.prwilkinson wrote:Probably 3 & 3Drake Huggins wrote:Where we are after 6 rounds will give us a fair indication.

This is great post folks! A magnificent post. My great friend, fellow swamp drainer and fellow casino owner, Park Avenue Sainter. He is very right! (And the more right a man is, the better folks, believe me!) St Kilda is the greatest club of all!!! And this year we will be winning! There will be so much winning! And we will win quickly! Believe me! #makingstkildagreatagainandquicklyparkeysainter wrote:C'mon Saints fans. There is too much doom and gloom, pessimism and cynicism floating about in some quarters on here atm. As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Strange how the Saints in the first JLT were flat as a pancake, had cobwebs, rusty etc etc...yet Carlton were fresh, looked in form and won. Someone obviously not doing their job.

No doom and gloom from me. I'm pretty excited and willing to roll with the punches over the 2018 season. No high expectations for finals, just hoping to see the youngsters develop into better players and some general improvements as a team.

I reckon this is the only way to go really. Despite my earlier post that simply explains (possibly) the D&GSainternist wrote:No doom and gloom from me. We nearly beat the Blues last week having played half a game pretty poorly. To me this shows inconsistency, which is something we can change, and pretty quickly too
