Who has done enough to keep their spot?

Post: # 1715804Post SainterX1 »

Honestly, I would keep

Carlisle
Geary
Armitage
Newnes
Gresham
Ross
Steven
Stevens
Clarke
Long

Very sad state of affairs. Based on performance, we have 10 players who could walk away feeling they had a half descent shot today. I've been a Richardson fan, but the use of Jack Steven and Billings didn't really make sense. Unless Steven in injured it was a pathetic choice to have him out of the action so much.

No, Stevens is slow and clumsy...Dunstan must be better? Armo gets another week to get some run back in his legs, but he was generally very average today. Long and Clark I'd keep on endevour.

Unfortunately, the VFL starting late doesn't give us many options to bring in, and I don't have much faith in the coach being able to pull back from whatever plan he has to change what isn't working. Then again, what do I know.

I may be slightly biased, but I think Acres is utilized wrong. He didnt have a very good game today, but I can't remember him being in the middle for one centre bounce.

He is on thing North didnt have. A big bodied, tall midfielder. A point of difference. Surely it can't hurt. Over 20 touches still. Off half forward. He is a waste there

How many of Webster's 30 touches went to our advantage?
I had a feeling of trepidation reminiscent of Dawson/Raph whenever he went near it!

Sorry, I know he's young and hopefully will be a beauty. But Clarke is currently out of his depth and definitely didn't do enough to keep his spot. Was like a rabbit in the headlights.
Having said that I'd keep him in anyway. We need to play the likes of him and Coffield. Armo needs to go. Too slow. Bring Dunstan in FFS. Younger version at least. We need a clean out and some of these younger guys need to be a given a chance.

This is very generous

Armitage - love armo but he is just getting by right now.
Newnes - next captain? just getting by too
Ross - no impact, but couldn't be dropped obviously
Stevens - just very average, should not be playing ahead of Dunstan
Clark - had a shocker, don't mind persisting for the sake of experience though

Billings was still good while not dominant.
Acres just has to keep playing, was trying to change the game but didn't have a great day.

I felt less trepidation with Webster than with Stevens, Sinclair, Ross, Billings or Steele today.

It’s what StKilda has always done _sack the coach which means each time we start all over again.
You need to work through the issues instead of a knee jerk reaction.
You pay out the coach and then in 2 or 3 years you do it again.
I’ve been following this team for 50 years and I have lost count of the number of coaches.

Absolutely true, but he wasn't on his pat malone. The team skills are diabolically deficient!!!

In fairness...given today's effort, I think we DO need to start again.

The coach could be the issue. He should lead by example and pay a hefty price. Lehmann showed some intestinal fortitude and is a prime example of accepting responsibility.

I might be too tough, but Carlisle and Geary were the only players to get a pass mark from me. Armo and Steven were the best of the rest.

Long and McCartin both continued to show some promise: they should be persisted with for a couple more weeks at least.

I reckon Hickey or Marshall comes in for Longer and Dunstan and Gilbert also come in: Steele is one obvious target to be dropped, and Sinclair or Stevens are also in the firing line.

I can't see too many more changes, as there aren't obvious replacements for many of the other poor performers.

Yep. Solely Richardson's fault. Hasn't got a clue.

I understand what you're saying, but this was a big occasion for Richo to show what he could do with the team he has been building for quite a few years now. His team was well beaten by mediocre opponents: it would have been crushed if North had taken some of their many easy chances in front of the sticks.

Stevens, Long, Clarke, Armitage all lucky to be on that list

Stevens kicking and decision making is awful,

Long still off the pace, Clarke may be worth perserveering with and will be good ina couple of years but right now is off the pace

Disagree. They showed glimpses and need to be persisted with.

Stevens is one who will fight all the way, and will appear to be better with a better team around him.

Long is the only one at the moment showing glimpses of something outside the ordinary. Again, will look a hell of a lot better when we are playing well.

Clarke is going to be great and if we don't play him not then there is something wrong with the club. Coffield will be another who needs to be perservered with no matter what.

Armitage is coming off a year out. He Needs to stay. He's not the one to go out for Dunstan.
