and so we will persevere - 800 and counting

Post: # 1727622Post 6621104 »

Lost in the rambling disillusionment of 2018 has been one of the most marvellous and uplifting stats I have come across- and I have no wish to embarrass or curry favour with the poster. It has certainly helped me regain perspective.
To have been to over 800 StKilda games - all weathers, all seasons, good teams and bad! Enrico- you put me to shame (I do live interstate).
In the wash up of this current season and despite the gut wrenching disappointment of the realisation that another season drifts away we are still Saints people, and will always be. The club only exists because we share some of Enrico's passion, Jiggling's jiggle and even Con's rage.
We have neophytes- young men who have come to our team with optimism and expectation to support. Warriors, even those whose limitations have become a liability but who have represented our hopes, to thank. And the rest of the year to show the world that we will come marching in!

There is no option other than to “persevere”.......... OR just give it away..... and by the way, I don’t condemn ANYONE for doing that, everyone has a point at which they say “I can’t do this any more”. Let’s not be smug and criticise such folk.
I’m prepared to persevere as a Saints supporter, but I’m rapidly approaching the point where I’m questioning the wisdom of shelling out $3-400 a season ( before buying food, drink, transport etc on matchday ) for the kind of inertia being shown by the club.

I’m never going to be anything but a Sainter........ but am considering just how much of a PAYING one I want to be in the future.

Fair call.

No one has unlimited funds, and you may prefer to spend that money travelling or on your family/yourself.

Unfortunately, Amen to that.

Sainter_Boy and I are still Premium Members - but for how long???? He has been a member for all of his life - I go back to the early 80's in Moorabbin (remember those punch tickets?)

We pay the players wages etc - how much would any of us keep paying if they were direct employees - I don't care if my employees lack in a certain area, and therefore need retraining - but when you consistently turn up to see them doing the same crap each and every week - you have to consider if they are worth retaining and paying. Imagine if you were always having to correct a bank rec, or had issues with invoicing!!!

Can we get some work experience kids in maybe?????

Being a saints support is like continually banging your head into a concrete wall.

I will always pay to be a Stkilda member, but turning up to the games or even bothering to watch them on TV is becoming increasingly difficult to find motivation for.

Well I will be there again on Sat to add another notch.
But I an seriously wondering if I can stream the wedding on my tablet, esp. if we put in another "2 goals in 3 quarters" effort!
