I sure hope so but I reckon I heard similar when we drafted Wright, White, Saunders & Pierce too.

Good luck to these two boys on Friday!

2010 draft:

Cripps, Ledger, Crocker, Sippos.

We’re still rebuilding.

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2018-08-0 ... arns-debut

"Ben Paton has been named as an emergency eight times.

Eight times he’s completed the warm-up, eight times he’s watched on from the sidelines.

But this Friday night, the ex-Murray Bushranger will finally get his shot at senior footy, Alan Richardson this morning confirming Paton will line up against Essendon.

After being overlooked in the 2016 Draft, Paton returned to the Bushrangers in 2017 as a 19-year-old overage player and thrived in a new role in defence.

Paton cemented a spot in the championships and performed so strongly he was rewarded with All-Australian selection in the same defence as new teammates Oscar Clavarino and Nick Coffield.

At the end of the championships, Paton played two games for Collingwood in the VFL, impressing with his seamless transition against senior bodies.

The 19-year-old has excelled for Sandringham this year under the guidance of ex-Saint Aaron Hamill, showcasing both his ability to win his own ball on the inside and his elite foot skills on both sides of his body.

Ben Paton becomes the seventh Saint to make their senior debut in 2018, and the 1597th player to wear the famous red, white and black."

Keeping Pierce on the list has been up there with our dumbest moves and we did it solely because we're broke. I agree with other posters that, in our current position, giving everyone on the list a go is a good idea and as someone who has seen a bit of the dolphins this year I agree double concerning Pierce who makes Billy Longer look like a racehorse.
Paton is a good kick who gets to the right spots and at least has the potential to play the game at AFL level.

And let Mav 'find some form' in the VFL.
Wouldnt mind seeing White Rice brought in for Coffy Clarke. Reckon the kids need to rest. Been a long year and need to get games into White Rice combo.
Nice call stkfc, you're judgment is right around the money

Be a tough initiation for some of those guys even though Pierce has played AFL before and only 1 game. Cant expect guys to turn it on for the last 3 games to prove themselves, not sure where that idea came from. Freeman has played 1, Long had a major injury and missed 13 and Paton makes his debut, what position are they going to play him in? At least Pierce will have back up in the ruck with Marshall. A few teams would be glad they dont play Essendon in the finals.

Any idea where Billy Longer is?

It's almost as if he's cracked the sh1ts and gone walkabout?

Recuperating. Had operations on his ankle and also has had/is to have an operation on his shoulder.
