The Flux Report: The Verve Round

Post: # 1781800Post AeonFlux »

The analysis committee. This week itā€™s Rodger, Whispering Ted (who kindly joined us before heading off again on holidays), Catherine (who brought takeway, Chinese I think ā€“ nice work), Parquetry Sainter, Aaron, and Spencer White (bumped after a two year break).

Con and Johnny remain unavailable, and we werenā€™t able to contact Shane Grambeau. (Word is heā€™s gone underground.) Lazar was also unavailable. (His presence was missed.)

Last Saturdayā€™s game!

What can be said!?! Whispering Ted is so happy heā€™s still performing cartwheels over at <definite article deleted by mods> choachā€™s safe house, along with tony2019 (his new mate from Big Footy). Ted has declared us premiers, but he still canā€™t decide which Saintā€™s player will win the Brownlow, or the Norm Smith. (Though, word is, Ted is leaning towards Snowy Carlisle. But itā€™s early days, so need to rush that decision Ted.)

Parquetry Sainter is just like Ted and is very very happy also. One could say that he was floored by the result.

Rodger is also ecstatic. So much so, when Rodger finished cartwheeling with Ted and tony2029, he declared that if we win again next week, then he will renew St Kilda membership.

Oh Rodger...................

Things to like:
- The Marshall! Ok, their much bigger ruckman won more taps, but didnā€™t matter, as we pretty much squared the clearances. But what matters, the Marshall gave us an extra man around the ground. Still want to see him primarily up forward though.
- The mature age blokes ā€“ again! And just wait till our favourite Parker builds his tank to give us closer to four quarters of entertainment!
- Paddy didnā€™t get concussed. (We think...?)
- The Greshā€™ spending more time in the middle. The bloke is a brilliant small forward. The bloke is on the way to also being a brilliant on-baller. (Thank-you Darcy Parish. )
- Hannersā€™ rebuilding is listed as ā€˜indefiniteā€™, not the career-ending ā€˜2 weeksā€™. (Itā€™s rumoured that the club may apply to the Andrewsā€™ government for capital works funding for this.)
- Billings (aka to some as, ā€œIā€™d rather have pick 9ā€ :P ) has become a very consistent player. And a very good player.
- Geary is a legend. (What you said Rodge!)
- Simon (aka The Troll Hunter)) easily wins this yearā€™s best April Foolsā€™ Day ruse. Turned into an interesting thread too. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=97341
This one could have been another contender. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=97355#p1781767 But was ruled ineligible, being submitted after the traditional midday deadline. Stay tuned though.

So there you have it. Turns out that TTL is not an ancient Greek philosopher. Heā€™s actually Norwegian. Wonder how heā€™d go providing a presence in the ruck?

- Whilst injuries have effectively cost us several players this year, we have also (effectively) got back two missing blokes.................. The Bruce, and Jack Newnes.
- Nathan ā€˜the Rock of Gibraltarā€™ Brown is back. (Still do not get the lack of love. )
- Acres back too.

Things to love:
- The drug dealersā€™ crowd booing their own at quarter time. Takes one to know one, you <deleted by mods>s. (Unfortunately, to date, Rohan Connolly has been unavailable for comment.)
- Acres back too. And he didnā€™t ruck.

Things to improve:
- Weā€™re still a marking option light in the forward line. Put the Marshall up there! Or at the least, Battle (who is wasted down back). Then get those marking forwards to bloody well SPREAD!!! :x
- Playing two rucks also gives us the option of dropping a big body back to help out the undersized defence. Wilkie in the square late in the last quarter against Bellchambers, is a match-up that should never be allowed to happen. (Just like the undersized Joyce on Wright last week ā€“ no wonder he was giving away frees.)
- Weā€™re still lovinā€™ the bomb. :x The Bruce mark of the year actually should not have been needed. Instead of bombing and hoping, Greshā€™ ignored a loose running option on his outside, who could have run in and had a shot from ~40m out.
- Goal-bloody-kicking!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should have been bloody 7.2 to 0.2 at quarter time, and game (pretty much) over!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Spare a thought for our opponents:
Whilst highly enjoyable, their start to the season is not unexpected. As this exclusive footage, secretly filmed over the Effendrugcheats pre-season training sessions shows................................... you play as you train (fail).

Opposition player/s to bag:
None this week. Weā€™re feeling charitable. Sure, it would be easy to name the three bumblers who all failed to man Lonieā€™s mark. But to be fair, as it was Lonie, they might not have seen. Or Parish kicking into his own man. (If Hurley had been watching the ball, instead of replays of ā€˜thatā€™ mark, he wouldnā€™t have strolled in front of Parish). Besides, weā€™re just way happy too having Snowy and the Gresh, instead of Parish, to gloat any further.

In fact, weā€™re feeling so magnanimous, that we didnā€™t even stoop to this kind of vindictive behaviour
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=97318&sid=8305b833b ... 5#p1781384 (Not that we didnā€™t enjoy it. )

In fact, embracing a truer sense of compassion and inclusiveness, after joining those at the Adelaide Oval in singing our song post match, we then sang the Bumblerā€™s song too. Sing along also if you like. Everyone at least knows the chorus.

And good on Hannersā€™. As reported last week, his leaving of some talcum powder for use after the showers was very much appreciated by the vanquished team.

INS:
Louey or Lazar. (See points 1 & 2 of ā€˜Things to improveā€™.) And yes, Louey was disappointing last week. Yet, even his worst saw him get more possieā€™s than Mr No Stats averaged for all of last year. And Louey actually has upside potential.
Actually, itā€™s covered (and nailed) really well in this report received on Sunday.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=97306&sid=8305b833b ... 5#p1781331

OUTS:
Some unlucky poor bastard. Or Dan McKenzie.
And maybe Dunstan out too, for some speed in? (But first, we have to run that one by desertsaint for clearance to proceed. He'll probably say no.)

Stiff as:
Clark, H.
Clarke, F.F.S.
Our remaining Irishman.

Can it happen?
Beating he whose name we must not speakā€™s purple monstrosities next week on their own dung heap ā€“ our first time this season venturing away from Linton Lodger Stadium??? I hope so. Our club needs every membership that it can get. Right, Rodge?

It can happen:
We can win this one!
- If, we get the team balance right. (Thatā€™s a big ā€˜ifā€™.)
- If, we kick even straightish on goal. (Thatā€™s a seeming lottery with us.)
- If, our marking forwards bloody well spread, and our midsā€™ donā€™t bloody well default to the long bomb!!! (Thatā€™s looking like being one for the ā€˜dreamersā€™.)

I hope so. Our club needs every membership that it can get. Right, Rodge?

Thoughts, Johnny?

Thoughts, Saintsationalists?

Very good.

A few references there to Ted's brilliance which is understandable.

Thd good old www is one strange place too. šŸ˜

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

If journalism is Barret's, the Flux should be paid double.

My full time job? I'm Head of PR, Social Media Manager, and millinery consultant for (the great) Rodger Fox.

Image Oh Rodger! <swoon>

As a part of this role, I compile and disseminate propaganda material received from various members of Rodger's staff - aka 'The Committee'.

On the side, and just for kicks, on the behalf of Lazar I also execute some of the 'contract jobs' that he receives from his Saudi mates. (It was nothing personal Bluthy. :) )

To put it another way, if you're familiar with Luc Besson's classic French movie 'Nikita', then....je suis le nettoyeur.
