Brad Crouch
With today’s media chat about Brad Crouch being gettable for the right price in this years Free Agent market, realistically is he worth looking at for us?
It comes at an interesting week, seeing Steele did an absolute number on him on the weekend.
We need good midfielders, but is he good enough to worry about?
Not worth the $1mil in my opinion, but would have to be high priced to drag away from the crows.
Does he fill a void, or create another one?

If they can get rid of an older player as a free agent who delivers them pick 2, they want it.
But he must deliver pick No 2. not pick 20.
That means his initial contract must be large like that of Frawley from Melbourne to Hawthorn.
Crouch knows he may be forced into this situation by Adelaide.
But the club taking him also knows they must give him a contract that delivers pick 2 to Adelaide.

Re: Brad Crouch
To me our problem is that we have a working class midfield - and Crouch would add to that description
IF we are going after a mid we need to go after class - and what will be our trading leverage if required?
IF we can present as a young side on the rise and seriously so that may be a factor in enticing an out of Contract “young gun” looking to return to Melbourne - so we look at the Interstate Clubs and I would suggest the 2 Queensland sides and GWS

Re: Brad Crouch
How old is he?
I thought Reiwoldts comment that he has defined himself by the number of disposals he gets was a veiled way of saying he plays a selfish brand of footy.
(Although it may have been about Matt)

I'd be a little disappointed if this guy was the FA we are supposedly chasing given who is on this list.

I wouldn't object to nicking a guy called Patrick Cripps off Carlton.

Re: Brad Crouch
We should absolutely go for Brad Crouch. Would be our number one ball winner capable of dishing it out to Hill, Billings, Clark and Coffield. Would significantly improve our team.
If we could add Crouch without pushing out any best 22 players our 2021 team could look very good
B: Wilkie, Howard, Long
HB: Clark, Carlisle, Coffield
C: Hill, Steele, Hannebery
HF: Gresham, Battle, Billings
F: Butler, King, Membrey
Foll: Marshall, Crouch, Jones
Int: Paton, Ross, Byrnes/Bytel, Parker/Hind/Marsh
Ship off Savage/Dunstan/Webster/Sinclair if we need some cap space

Re: Brad Crouch
The 1$ million dollar player is a thing of the past. Well for the duratuon of the recession at least. We will be about $20 million in debt by December and that figure could blow out if the AFL doesn't pick up the cost for all of the unnecessary and absorbent costs associated with executing the Astersik cup.
Brad Couch will be lucky to attract $500 per year and it's highly likely there will be hardly any FA movement this year. The media will keep spinning on as per normal about trades and trade weeks because it has become a cottage industry for the media and it also serves the AFL agenda to keep the AFL in the media past the GF although the GF migh either be played in January/February next year or cancelled altogether if COVID-19 get out of Control in other AFL states.
The more interesting trade periods will be 2021 and beyond when current contracts are completed and the AFL can screw the players right down on price. At the moment the players have some contractual cover. The market is about to experience a serious correction. I've heard a rumour that many marque players on Champaign and Caviar contracts have been told their flamboyant lifestyles will be downgraded to Beer and Pretzels. Probably why players like Hill aren't terribly interested in giving us their gold standard.
With the second tier comps also being decimated and Covid-19 restrictions likely to effect grass roots footy for a long while yet, it's likely the standard of AFL footy wont be back to the elite level for years to come and so you would expect wages to be commensurate with that de valued standard.

Re: Brad Crouch
Go chat with some Crows fans about the Crouch bros. From what I have seen they almost all think they are non-damaging accumulators - dinky handballs, minimal impact on games despite 30 possies. No thanks.

Re: Brad Crouch
It's a no from me. I can see it now, if he did come to St Kilda at some stage through the year we'd be saying we need a fast, goal kicking mid who is damaging by foot.
Steele, Jones, Hannebery can get the ball, we need Josh Kelly!

From all accounts Josh Kelly could be gettable with their tight salary cap.
He is friends with Jack Billings so wondering if we were a chance.

Jack Billings has mentioned it in an interview a few years ago when he said that Josh had been a friend before they were drafted and they travelled overseas together.
