Gawn factor: are you expecting...
.....a Daniher like miracle that Essendon launched against Hawthorn?
I hope we can adapt this time.
If there is one weakness this year, it has been our inability to counter a
N opposition reGroup and change or switch after halftime.
Come on lads. Plan B has to ready too.

Gawn tends to park himself in front of the deep forwards, and many sides who tend to bomb the ball forward(Saints especially), just put it in Gawn's hands- he will drop in front of King and nullify him. We need have the eyes down coming forward and keep the ball low- probably a cool night up there, and we need our smalls to be active in the forward half.

The long bomb has been a huge problem as far as I see it. We've gotten lazy bombing it in there...it's efficient against poor teams, but plays entirely into the hands of good teams.spert wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 11:30am Gawn tends to park himself in front of the deep forwards, and many sides who tend to bomb the ball forward(Saints especially), just put it in Gawn's hands- he will drop in front of King and nullify him. Hopefully, first game back in weeks he is underdone. Hopefully.
It's a big ground to cover as well and it's 2 v 1.

I am expecting we use Marshall & Ryder to make Gawn accountable for them. Marshall can goal from 50 & Paddy needs to draw Gawn away from King.

Re: Gawn factor: are you expecting...
Pretty straightforward I believe.
Whichever ruckman is not on the ball needs to lead long to the flanks, drawing Gawn or their other talls away from that area directly in front of King. King on the other hand needs to lead more centrally allowing the other talls and smalls room by drawing multiple opponents away from the goal square. I believe this will give greater opportunity to Membrey and Battle not to mention Billings!

I'm expecting MG to be a late withdrawal. Apologies, that hoping.
