Gee whiz there’s some dinosaurs on here!
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.
Re: Assistant Coaches
Russell part could be true. Lives in Hampton but moving to Mt Eliza .... not sure you would do that if still at Carlton? Would be a good get ...

Re: Assistant Coaches
You can say you don't care
being in the present moment
by definition
is the consequence
where is this 'unintended consequence' ?
and if you can find one thats expressible
present moment awareness
would be the best place to meet it from
you'd reckon
how would you argue that ?but I would argue that focusing on the head space and validating emotional responses has unintended consequences.

Re: Assistant Coaches
and
emotional responses
are in no need of being validated
they already are
before mind games are added to them
what the emotional response needs
is integration
not pushed back down
like some ... weird bad naughty unbloke like thing
and mind games
aren't needed for that part of the journey either
just the courage
to take responsibility
for ones own ... emotional response
there's a really simple but effective modality
for that work
.... concentrate (softly) on your out breath
and don't run away
when you have an emotional response
its ok
to be a bloke

If my head is in the present = beer and pizzas and then more beer and pizzas

The phrase "(there shall be) weeping and gnashing of teeth" (in the original Greek ὁ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων) appears seven times in the New Testament as a description on the fate of the unrighteous ones at the conclusion of the age.

Though he'll more likely be at Lyon's side guiding the Blues into a GF within two years.
All the love for the tosser is hard to understand!
77 more games and will pass Eade as the coach with most games without a flag, hope Carlton give him the four years required!

So what is 'not thinking' supposed to mean.
Emotional response area guarantee...is taking responsibility rationalizing? Because one is never alone. You could be in a prison, or at a party, at a job interview or in court or dealing with some horrible Railway Ticket Inspector dressed up in the latest Waffen SS uniform pointing the book at you.

I’m all for it because it’s just part of their routine and not anything aimed at the opposition like the ridiculous Adelaide Crows Power Ranger tactic

Actually, I apologize Asiu for my flippant and throwaway response earlier, you make a good point...
Yep, development is the reason..and it has its own rewards, not just for you (me) but for everyone.
Sorry for the folks not into out existential thang here..back to the topic of assistant coaches...
..we have to acknowledge that this maybe Ratts's first opportunity to really choose someone he wants. Or does it not work like that?

no mate
none of that
its an .... allowance
ie
let it arise
(u just observe)
don't add 'story'
its like your bobbing safely in the ocean
the swell (intensity) lifts
peaks
then falls away
it was /is just a wave (of held electrical charge)
that
arose
(had its moment in the sun)
then fell away
Your task
is to stay mentally quiet
emotionally (electrically) open
and observe
its coming 'n going

Re: Assistant Coaches
oh yea
the out breath
is used to help you
allow the 'wave'
to move up , through you and pass away (gonski)
and stay quiet
until the next one arises
if its a set
same process
calm
quiet
allow
observe
breathe
repeat process
like i said ... its not hard
and it only works
every time
gaz out

Re: Assistant Coaches
Moving along, regarding a new High Performance Fitness guru, Andrew Russell from Carlton has been mentioned and he would be a very good choice.
My thoughts go to a St Kilda guru - Sean Dempster. He has a great reputation in this fitness area. His record of being a Saints person, 200+ AFL games and previously employed by the Saints until finance cut-backs seems a great fit. He would have a lot of credibility with the players.
Thoughts??
