Surely.

The coach has to give the club a list of 'must have's', and list of 'want to have's' and a list of 'meh's'.
Apparently the previous coach has stated publicly that he didn't have any say about who was on the list.

I agree with you totally about the coach being responsible for the playing list.

Mabye thats a reason why Ross Lyon is now coach.
Maybe it is.

As long as Mr. Football stays away from the negotiations, we might be Ok.

It staggers me that people are concerned about the head coach being involved in player contracts.

I'd think they absolutely should be.

Infact, I'd be staggered if they weren't involved.

Fancy someone else dictating who works for you? Preposterous.

Kosi won't leave St Kilda unless we give him a good reason to do so.

So, Rogerfox, if you were in Lyon's shoes would you be instructing that Kosi is a required player and must be retained under all circumstances?

No doubt the coach will get what he wants.

There is scope opening up with Hamill, Harvey, Hudgden and Gehrig - although not necessarily in 2008 so there may be some "back ending", as there may already be with Riewoldt and Dal Santo.

The retirements of Thompson and Voss will free up a bit more - so it is a juggling game - as it always is and is with most clubs with elite players.

St Kilda will well know the sums - and there may be more dollars available from lower clubs because they do not have the elite players to protect.

But, generally, players reject these "better" offers from lower clubs, because team success is the name of the game - being able to return to a club house when you are 60 years of age and see your photo on the wall - knowing it will stay there for longer than you will be around.

And the bond between you and the others in those photos.

And you are revered.

That is what sport is about.

Loyalty to your mates and success.

Kosi has this year shown some signs, is being played in a position (ruck) which may suite him but where, in reality, he is at least 5cm too short.

His legs are not yet solid enough, they still appear a little rubbery which depreciates from his mobility.

But, with the confidence gained from getting through this year, and with a full pre-season in 2008, he will prove himself as the most important player in the St Kilda side - as a dominant CHF, releasing Riewoldt to a utility role where he will explode.

So there is a double benefit.

The coach will be saying "required player", so the Administration must deliver.

If there is immediate pressure, who do you keep between Milne and Kosi?

And a couple of others could be included instead of Milne, but some collateral decisions may need to be made.

The name of the game then is to sustain your list at the lower end with players who offer the maximum to the playing group at a minimal (basic) cost.

Absolutely.

I should think so.

The coach should dictate this. Keep in mind also though, that if the coach does his job well, he should be able to keep both. They should both be prepared to stay at the club regardless.

I have heard StKFC will not negotiate until end of the season while Kosi has instructed his management to get a deal done.

I have also heard Kosi is being discussed as trade bait with WB with a good quality running player and their first round pick as the deal.

Don't do it saints, I feel he is ready to burst and fulfill his potential.

Perhaps dollars spent on Roo and dal may have left the coffers bare?

The Saints have always looked after Kosi, I'd be highly surprised if he ever hinted about leaving. I'd say it's more wishful thinking by the Blues than anything else! (my 2cents worth)

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Here's hoping the bridge is gapped not before long.

Well juding by the fact they give ackland 300g's I would say kosi would be offered at least 3 million a year.

Its Kosi's managers job to get the best deal for his client - Kosi would probably play for St Kilda for nothing and drive escavators during the week to stay in the team. Well . . . not quite.

Oh here we go again. The Privy Council is back.

I'm no fan of this administration but even I accept they aren't as unprofessional as some of you bullshiit artists would have us believe.

It's bad enough the implication that contract negotiations are public - but to suggest we are hawking him around is pathetic rumour mongering.

As I said before, it is just Kosi's manager spreading rumours in an effort to pressure the club.

All managers do it as (justifiably) they want the best for their client.

Has no bearing on whether Kosi will stay or not ...

You hear the same stuff with every player.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

The other 15 teams would be insane not to be chasing Kosi. He's a matchwinner when things map out for him.

He is a F@rking idiot.

He has been potting the club on this site day in day out since GT got the @rse.

The president should go blah blah he’s feeding stories to the press B/S B/S B/S and any amount of unsubstantiated cr@p he can fabricate.

All of a sudden he reads something he doesn’t like he becomes the moral guardian of the forum and carries on like a feminist at a girlie bar.

Has always been a gutless piece of cr@p and always will be!

Do we really need to get into the definition of 'suspect' JB?

Find me the quote where I said I KNOW he has leaked information. You know, claiming 'inside info' and stating it as fact.

BTW, didn't you also post the EXACT SAME COMMENT.

Is there a need for the personal insults?

I thought that sort of behaviour was bannable on here these days?

Obviously not.
