From the last article I read concerning Aaron a decision was not going to be made about his future until probably December when there would be an idea of how his knee was responding to rehab after the latest lot of surgery.
On the development coach issue, I think Brisbane did a similar thing with Justin Leppitsch this year and made him an assistant coach. From memory, he retired with time left on his contract.
He has stuffed knees like Voss - the best thing for him to do would be to retire - we honour his contract (although it would be good if we could negotiate a lower payout) - we get someone else on our list who can play and he does something productive for himself and the club as a development coach

how many times do we have to say if he retired we would have to still include his payments under the salary cap and retain him on the list and hense no extra player on the list!!!!!!!!
Yes we know his payments are included BUT if they are renegotiated (as they should if he has any sense of fairness) wouldn't the new lower amount be the amount included in the 2008 salary cap figure.
see micheal voss last season. It depends on if the extra payments ie if retired due to injury 50% extra payment of the last year of their contract is entitled and must be under the salary cap. So in the case of voss (on a big back ended contract) they couldn't fit the extra 50% under the salary cap so he had to stay on the list.
I presume with all of the extra signings we have had we probably wouldn't have the room for the extra payment as well.

Why?
I seem to recall reading on here that the reason his contract was extended out to 5 seasons was that he agreed to accept less pre year over a longer period?
He helped us by agreeing to take less per year.
He was injured playing his heart and soul out for us.
Now you want him to take less again 'if he has any sense of fairness'?
Our point is if he is told in December he cant play again will a renegotiated figure be included in the salary cap for 2008 so we can resign players who actually get on the park like Goose and Joey.
And fair point Mr.Magic.

He is contracted for 2008. Makes no difference whether he plays or not.
Well it makes some difference. He wont play. He will coach. End of story. We have to count him in the salary cap. Whoever signed him for 5 years should be fired.
Now lets move on with our list management issues and worry about getting Gardi right and recruiting a midfielder.
I think Aaron has shown enough over the past years to make me believe he will always do what's good for the Club, whatever that may be vis a vis the salary cap.
I just think it's wrong to suggest he owes us anything re his contract.

Wouldn't that be tragic!! And CON we dont need to fire the person who signed HAMILL to a 5 year deal BUTTRESS sacked him last year.
This happens every year at this time and with most Clubs. It always seems to get resolved.
well I hope he is an assistant coach next year....I've been calling/hoping for this for over a year now, I mean, if we can employ John Barker as a forward line coach surely Sammy can't be any worse......get rid of Barker and replace him with Hamill.....and hopefully if Sammy has a good season as a coach he'll be around our club and away from those filthy beggars for a few years to come!

he hasn't played much in 2-3 years, doesn't he owe the club something back?
