It was great to see the big bloke stand up during that last quarter and show how good he is/can be. I think he rucked for almost the entire quarter and dominated.
The little kiss he planted on Joey's head after the siren was also noticed !!

Agree on that last quarter..some of his palm downs were sublime...you need to be very accurate if you are going to knock it down behind you as he often does
Seems to be getting better every game. Hopefully he can keep this going into the real season and we might see a bit of the player that was named AA in 2003.
When Gardi gets his old touch back we are going to dominate the clearances.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!
that last quarter shows that his motor is excellent and all he needs is to keep working hard and get match fit and watch the confidence of the midfield lift a cog!

2013 trade/draft best ever?
Billings - future brownlow medallist Longer - future best ruck
Dunstan - future captain Eli - future cult hero
Acres - future norm smith
Really please with the rucks tonight, shows what a difference they make.
I've been rather skeptical on the what the success of Gardiner would be considering he had barely played in over 2 years, but it certainly looks like my skepticism will be unfounded so far, but a bit early yet, I think.

Me too Ricc. I've been extremely skeptical about M.Gardiner. Remains to be seen whether his body can stand up during the season proper, but the signs look positive.

yep, crows young combo of maric and griffin beat king and gardiner in terms of number of hitouts, but we were superior in hit outs to advantage, which is what it's all about IMO....

Pretty sure he took a cont mark against Richmond and kicked truly into F50. To be honest I havn't seen the entire replay of the Crows game yet but from what I have seen, Gardi is looking great.
Can you imagine....Gari and King... to all-australians in form playing for the saints? Premiership ruckmen for sure. Glad we havn't had to cottonball them either. They have been managed and still performed, getting into full contests and not hiding around the ground waiting for umps to bounce the ball. I am so excited about this combination.

It's a welcome change isn't it. Watching the bits of the game I managed to catch last night, it was fantastic to see ruckmen in St.Kilda jumpers palming the ball down to our midfielders. So good to see. There was another contest that caught my eye towards the end of the third quarter as well. The ball was in dispute on our half-back line and King just stuck his big torso into an Adelaide guy and knocked him out the way like flicking a bug off. He then created space around the ball using his bulk to allow one of our guys clear air to pick it up and dispose of it without pressure.
Fantastic to see some big guys in our jumpers with physical presence doing the little things to protect our ball carriers. Love it!!!
hes had his critics for years even when playing at the eagles.
i wanted him in our line up for years i even wrote a letter to jim main at INSIDE FOOTBALL about how the saints should recruit him when i found out he was looking for a melbourne club.
