GT to coach blues?

Post: # 540361Post meher baba »

A strong rumour has come my way that Dick Pratt and co are already getting extremely worried about Carlton.

GT's name has come up in internal discussions as a possible replacement, due to his record during 2001-04 in melding together some high profile recruits and a number of early draft picks to create a powerful team that moved from the bottom to near the top of the table in 3 years.

Has anyone else heard about this?

Do you reckon between all of us on SS we could raise enough money so that if Thomas got the job we could bribe him to make the Blues keep losing every week?

This would be the ultimate recognition that the St Kilda Football Club > Carlton Football Club.

Imagine. A coach we sacked taking over the Blues!

It would give me enough ammo to give crap to Carlton supporters for the next decade.

thanks to GT for what he built at the club, and the culture at the club and the strength and will of the players.

he's gone.

he's made an ass of himself subsequently.

don't care what he does.

will laugh enourmously if he does get the job and the blues who bagged him for the years he was at st kilda start talking him up.

I reckon he'll do a fair job, and he needs the money.

don't know he'll be that committed to the blues though. Pagan like cash job?

My first thought too.

I've already got my girlfriend thinking Riewoldt's broken his ankle and out for 12 weeks and I've got three Melbourne following mates who I have believing Yze will announce his retirement at a press conference this morning.

EDIT: UPDATE: I've just fessed up that the Riewoldt thing isn't true and it seems I will be sleeping on the couch for the next week.

if he did (which he wont) i wish him all the best...the man is a little out of the box but hey...we are going okay currently with a good group of maturing bodies aren't we???

gt proved that you just dont need high draft picks to succeed ala calrton

IT"S A APRIL FOOLS PEOPLE

Do you seriously think the blues would consider getting rid of a coach after two games?

Do you seriously think Grant would be consider by any club to coach again in any capacity after his media performances?

april fool jokes aside they could do a lot worse, already have with pagan and possibly with ratten.

gt has a track record of melding a group of misfits and boys into a team.

i say this without attempting a swipe at our incumbent

I agree: that's why I chose it for my prank. The best April Fool's Day jokes have to have an element of plausibility about them. GT would undoubtedly do a better job with the undoubted pool of talent that the Blues possess than either Pagan or Ratten have achieved to date.

I think Carlton were a total embarrassment on Saturday night. To me, they still look a million miles away from being a decent side after a bucketful of early draft picks and the recruitment of Nick Stevens, Judd, etc.

After season after season of losing (deliberately or otherwise: I have my views on this) they play like a team with no confidence in their ability to win games. GT perhaps isn't the best technical coach in the world, but he'd certainly be able to instill a bit more confidence in the Blues than they have ATM.

Hes a great players coach.....

I still reckon he got to close to the players though.....

but he almost pulled us from the bottom of the ladder to the GF in only 3 years.

If he had've kept his mouth shut.....id wish him all the best.....

But he has become an thorn in our side.
