for so Long Glenn's spot on the saints.com.au player list was filled with " no Image"
now we can find out more.

Chivers confident of return

AFL RECRUITS tend to follow a rigid system.

Auskick, then club footy, then representative teams, then NAB Under 18 Championships, then the draft.

But St Kilda rookie Glenn Chivers took a very different path. The 19-year-old was taken by St Kilda last year after a year* of rowing and school football with St Kevin’s College in Melbourne.

Chivers said he was rapt that the Saints took him with their first pick in the rookie draft.

Glenn also played his junior footy at the Ashy Redbacks, the same club as Luke Ball. My young bloke is cutting his teeth there but he would need to show a fair bit of improvement before he was considered draft potential.
The Ashy Redbacks now have 4 rookie listed players: Glenn Chivers (StKilda), Lachie Hill (Carlton), John Shaw (Bulldogs), Nick Smith (Sydney) and 2 senior listed players: Luke Ball (StKIlda) and Josh Kennedy (Hawthorn).

What league are they playing in?

They play in the Waverley Junior Football Association and the Yarra Valley League. The Ashy Redbacks are one of the largest junior clubs in Victoria, they have 21 junior teams this year.

OUr club thought we were sucsessful with 2 in each age group :shock:

melton girl and I meet him a while back at training and when the players came off the ground the boys were signing autographs and glen looked at us and and others but no one asked him for his, he looked a little sad and when we asked him his name we said.. don't worry one day everyone will be asking for yours one day... I think we made him feel a little better :lol:
