Andrew Lovett?

Post: # 626204Post doristhesaint »

Essendon are looking to move Lovett on. I think his pace coud be helpful but must be trouble off the field is he worth the risk?
What would he be worth as he is contracted for 2009?

Absolutely. He is exactly the kind of player we need at half forward.

He could be one of a large number of players from all clubs who will be de-listed at the end of this year. All clubs want as many picks as possible in this very deep and last uncompromised draft for some time.

This could be a good thing for all the levels below AFL, from VFL, SANFL,WAFL to all levels of suburban and country footy where many of these guys will find themselves. These guys won't cost the earth either as there will a much greater supply than demand !!

I agree Eastern might actually be a trade period this year rather than 4 days of hot air

I have thought he would be great for us for weeks. Just shear pace in the center or on a wing. Imagine goddard, gram and fisher kicking out of defence to Lovett running through the middle.

I'd take him.

Worth the risk provided the price is right.

Yes. His pace would be very valuable to us. No trading picks though. What would they take? Lovett & ? for X Clarke & R Clarke?

If we signed Lovett I reckon we'd want to have the Clarkes help get him in line.

Personally I wouldn't trade the Clarkes and I'd have no problem giving up a pick for Lovett given his age.

Yeah, that will go down really well if we select him, more so after Roo sledged him for being a women basher...

a forward/mid that just doesn't kick enough goals IMO

also tends to get injured or at least carries injuries into games

Lets just stick to the kids IMO

Actually I take that back (sort of)

I didn't realise he was that old.

I'd still trade for him but I certainly wouldn't give more than a 3rd round pick.

and peverill is nearly 30

afl.com has started the retirements and delisting list early this year- there have been so many all year

Essendon have already told many they 'will not be required'

Yes,yes ,yes & yes .I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago that he changed a game with his sheer pace. You dont have to be Isaac Newton to know that he has a few problems but handled the right way he could be our knight in shining armour. I suppose it will all come down to what you are prepared to give up for him.

Nothing, and I suspect that is what Essendon are secretly thinking they will get for him. It won't stop them from asking for plenty for him. Afterall they are Essendon !!

Agree Fid hes inconsistent Mcadam like cr@p and trouble off field.

No - we also need to look to the future and I hope not become the recycled graveyard...

No point in taking him,
No need in taking him,
No use in taking him.

Frankly, i'd be disappointed if we wasted our #90 pick on him - he would take up a spot on the list that could be used by someone who not only has the potential to be someone, but will work hard enough to be someone.

Totally agree....

I would not want him if he offered his services for minimum wage...

his so called pace at 27 next year maybe questionable and again he is not a goal kicker ...

waste of space IMO
