Availability this week???

Post: # 628637Post BigMart »

Looks like a large list to choose from....

Not sure of any outs from last week.....

Returning...

McQualter, Ball?, M.Gardiner, Miles, Xavier.......

Keep in mind we have this ridiculous situation where a player or two will not play at all as Casey play a day before StK....some some players will lose match practise...

Will we rest a Kosi or Lenny Hayes?????

You would hope Bally can get a game before finals......which is a intense tempo to come back into after a lay off....

same with X......surey he cannot miss playing two weeks in a row as an emerg...with finals approaching he needs Game Time

Mini has missed 1.....will he miss out as an Emerg (means he misses two weeks of footy) or get straight back in, or play at Casey..

Eddy and Jones are two of Lyon's fav players because of there pressure skills....and hard running which his GP demands......big question is...will they be replaced by the more talented (but less match hardened) X.Clarke or Ball....I have a feeling Ross will stick with the strong bodied Jones.....and Prefer McQualter over Birss....

Both teams are in finals....how will they shape for R22

I reckon Ross will go with

B: GILBERT -- HUDGHTON -- DEMPSTER
HB: S.FISHER -- BLAKE -- GRAM
C: MONTAGNA -- GODDARD -- R.CLARKE
HF: C.JONES -- C.GARDNER -- MILNE
F: SCHNIEDER -- RIEWOLDT -- GWILT
Foll: KING -- HAYES -- DAL SANTO
Int: KOSCHITZKE -- HARVEY -- McQUALTER -- BALL
Emerg: BIRSS -- X.CLARKE -- R.EDDY

Greg will go with

B: PANOZZA* -- SILVAGNI* -- TAYLOR*
HB: O'BRYAN* -- WALL* -- HOWARD
C: MATTHEWS* -- ARMITAGE -- FIORA
HF: STEVEN -- ALLEN -- X.CLARKE
F: FERGUSON -- McEVOY -- DUNNE*
Foll: RIX -- L.FISHER -- GEARY
Int: M.GARDINER -- PARKER* -- McLEOD* -- MILES
Emerg: MATTHESON -- MOHR -- CHIVERS

Not playing: Eddy & Birss (on standby)

Anyone else think it's worth giving MG a chance to prove his worth? If he isn't selected this week then we're not going to take a huge risk by picking him in the finals, but he could still prove to be far more effective than King.

We should use this game to suss out who should be in our finals team.

That could be it for MG if he doesn't play again this year....

Not a good time to be hanging on to list cloggers

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

I would like to see x.clrake aslo come in for c. gardiner. I can't see why there is value in playing gardiner over x. clrake.

Gwilt & raph can replace gardiner's role & play forward roles to support kosi & roo,....

Surely X has far more upside for our team than a vfl standard player? We need to get game time into X.

Therefore I would like to see:

B: GILBERT -- HUDGHTON -- DEMPSTER
HB: S.FISHER -- BLAKE -- GRAM
C: MONTAGNA -- GODDARD -- R.CLARKE
HF: C.JONES -- RIEWOLDT -- MILNE
F: SCHNIEDER -- KOSCHITZKE -- GWILT
Foll: KING -- HAYES -- DAL SANTO
Int: X.CLARKE -- HARVEY -- McQUALTER -- BALL
Emerg: BIRSS -- C.GARDNER -- R.EDDY

If ball fit must play in front of c.gardiner and x also needs to play in front birss. If mini over the flu i think could b in front of Eddy who IMO was good last week.

How good is to have this sort of dillema at this time of year? How long has it been since we had this in the lead up to a finals campaign?

Should mean jumpy players (in & outside the team) & conteted coaching staff !!

I dont think Bally will play but dont you think X if he is anywhere near his best is more valuable to the side than Eddy or Gardiner.

I think only one of Birss or Mini in the side is okay. Same with Gardiner and King. Putting a hard tag on more than one opponent really limits your offensive midfield capabilities.

I think right about now they are even. Mini is a clearance specialist, while Birss can go forward and kick goals. With Ball out, I'd have Mini every time.

What I find delicious about this post is that Blake is matter of fact fashion named at CHB...and there is not a murmur ...My mind goes back to the days when the appearance of the name Blake on the list caused a riot on this forum.

This is a living text of where dedication, self belief, hard work and flexibility can take a person to. Blake is a credit to himself, to his team mates, his club, us members and to society at large.

There's the "IF" word again plug, yes near his best he is probably more valuable than Eddy and Gardiner. Can his hamstring stand up to the pace of the seniors compare to the Magoos? From what I read in this forum and the funny pages, he's had a history of soft-tissue problems this year.

I would just like to see a settled side this week, that's all. Last week was a team effort where everyone put in.

Great post santazzi. Couldn't agree more, but gee, I reckon now that you've highlighted it, the flood gates will open.

Thats why I reckon we find out this week before the finals as the last thing we want is for X to do a hammy in the first final.

Totally agree X should play this week.

In: X, Ball, Mini
Out: Gardiner, Eddy, Birss

Allen a possibility also, should be an emergency at least, after some good VFL form.

The easy decision is "We want X, Ball and Mini to play this week". The hard decision is how to fit them in to the team, structure wise as well as who they will replace.

With these changes we are essentially swapping two Half Forwards for 2 Mids. This is a dangerous prospect given where we have been at in the past with a lack of HFF's.

I'd have Birss in front of Mini but I doubt that Ross does.

For once I agree with you P66.

As I've stated in another post, I think X needs to play and if Ball is fit, he obviously comes in too. IMO Eddy and Jones (& Mini) are the unlucky ones. If Ball doesn't get up, then Jones stays in.

IMO Birss offers more versatility than Mini and Eddy and so stays in...Ball and X raise the skill level considerably.

If only X can stay fit.... :?

agree. the changes should be made with structure in mind and while x is a better player than charlie, he can't play chf.

maybe raph can, though, and that might be a way to get x in.

but otiman is deadset correct that we should not go back to having a front half bereft of marking targets apart from roo.

ball must play if fit and probably comes in for eddy.

Well Ross had Birss ahead of Mini on Sunday against the Crows.
