2004 Qualifying Final

Post: # 638684Post stevos2151 »

I tend to recall us getting slaughtered by 80 points in that game, yet we managed to come and miss the grand final by 1 kick.

Let's just see what happens this week.

Let's face it. We couldn't have played any more poorly yesterday. The only way is up.....you'd think 8-) :) :D

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Agreed, thats why I'm not worried. I'd rather our worst performance be yesterday than making it thru to a prelim as the favourite and choking

YEP you said it -

We played horribly yesterday, our run and carry was non-existent, we just had a stinker.

We will come in underdogs against the Pies and we will roll them. Comfortably I tell you.

Then into a Prelim. Where anything can happen.

An email from a friend of mine in Italy says it best I think -

"Don't lose heart mate - the flag wouldn't have been as sweet if we haven't beaten the pies to get there.

Next week we f*** Collingwood up.

This small town in Italy has just begun an anti Eddie campaign and will not stop until he bleeds..."

8-)

one thing for sure :
played a great team yesterday
lost and learnt a lesson . . . . hopefully

once they got rolling geelong were always going to win by 60+ or thereabouts.
got the sense 25 mins into the 1st that we were treading water and trying to hold back the surge.

The postitive :
sun comes up today.....
rather be in our position than adelaide or North which have had WASTED YEAR.

Collingwood isn't geelong and are beatable.
we got a 2nd chance..... just like the doggies.... and we can beat everyone bar geelong that are left in the mix

my mates a north supporter and he's devo'd cos of a wasted year.

Particularly seeing as North could have had 4th spot!

We were a much better team

A number of youngsters
Riewoldt/Ball/DalSanto/Kosi

first final

we were a quality top four team.......

evenness of sides 4 - 8 this year

we are no better than 50 % this week

we will be coming off 6 day break
Pies on a high

Huge hurdle this week

I think you'll find that the sentiments among supporters that year mirrored those being shared today.

Whipping boys, coaches, underperforming stars were all copping a fair bit if I recall correctly.

Chook, seem to recall you posting exact same prior to Essendon game, Adelaide game and Hawks game!! Other teams do fear us to from time to time you know!! Don't think the Pies have any major reason to be cockahoop about their chances this week either. Maybe they see this as a huge hurdle to overcome as well..
