Scott Burns - Midfield coach

Fraser Gehrig - Forwards Coach

Robert Harvey - Player Development

Aaron Hamill - Tackling/Player Development

Any thoughts on the above ???

Great points but I think Burns is just about locked in at Geelong.

expect fraser to take his long overdue holiday and prob miss the 1st 6 months of 2009. . . .
so he wouldnt be a chance for a permanent role in 09 .

burns is a dead cert for geelong.

hamill has buisness commitments that would preclude him from putting in the time.

harvey will be around . . . . prob will do pre season next year.
he should be one of our senior runners on game day.

Why does Barkewr have to go??

Everytime we lose I hear Barker has to go, he is no good etc?? Yet after games like last week when we were terrific in front of goals but EVERYBODY fails to mention or credit him..

Get off his back & give him a go..

Barker has to go as the forward line hasn't functioned properly for two years now, kicking for goal is only a small part of that and usually involves speacialist coaches.

I think you will find that Harvey will be offered a part-time asst coaching job by the AFL to work with the AIS under 17 squad !!

We are probably short by 1 assistant coach right now. I think it would be best for the club for us to let one of our assistants go. This would help in revitalising the playing group by adding a different voice/s. We could then add 1 x experienced assistant and 1 x "green" assistant to the group.

Luke Beveridge coached St Bedes to the premiership in the A grade ammos and would be worthy of consideration, depending on what he wants to do going forward !!

Not sure whether it's Barker's fault, but our forward structure is pretty unadventurous...the structure's been poor all year and has only really fired thanks to some brilliant individual performances. Our mids don't kick goals, our forwards rarely exert defnsive pressure...ff this is Barker's area of control, get rid of him.

Gehrig will be the ideal forwards coach.

Gehrig has already stated he has no interest in staying involved with footy. Yes Barker must go and I agree, Luke Beverage is the way to go.

Andy Lovell is Coaching Sandringham next season and we will be aligned with them. Therefore Greg Hutchinson wont have a VFL team to coach. The rumour is that he will definitely be an Assistant Coach next season and it maybe JB that gets moved on. All the current Ass. Coaches are on 2 year contracts which end on Oct 31.

I read that Jarrod Molley has left his coaching gig. I reckon he'd be a beauty. He provides great commentary on the ABC and knows the game and the forward line inside out. He's not very popular around here given he was critical of our game plan on 04/05 but he was right on the money.

What's he done?

Or defence has been very solid this season so I would retain SOS.

The midfield and forward line have been very hot and cold. Sometimes (e.g. Geelong & Hawthorn) we have been non-competitive.

For this reason, I'd say bye-bye to Rock and Barker.

I know that you are being very sarcastic here but have a look at our coaches when we have gone deep into September. You will find that (with the exception of the current one) they are St Kilda people.

From the 60's onwards we have had Alan Jeans (former player), Ken Sheldon (former player), Stan Alves (former skills coach) and Grant Thomas (former player and administrator).

No other coach in modern times with the exception of Lyon has taken the side into the finals.

People that know and understand the culture of the club are best placed to change it.

Are we replacing the coach. I thought it was about assistants but if we are replacing RL I would go for GT again.

Well, my stance on Barker has been well documented, but he will be the first assistant to go. Who replaces him depends on who is available. Jump at Nathan Buckley if he is interested. Played his last few years as a forward, and his ability to read the game of football (as a whole) is second to none.

Rock has been solid, as his name suggests.

Silvagni has done amazing things with our back 6, which have gelled tremendously towards the end of this season.

Greg Hutchinson (former Casey Coach) will be given a role somewhere at the saints, could well be as a deputy to Ross.

Sexton and Elshaugh we have not heard much from, but they really need to be getting a bit more out of our youngsters. I'd love to see Crippa back in development for us.

Don't recall saying that we should replace the coach. I was merely commenting that in our more successful on-field times St Kilda people have been involved in the coaching group.

Thanks, that's what I've heard also, and also the vibe I'm feeling.

How close to Oct 31 will we be likely to see any changes?

But you only mentioned coaches so i thought we may be replacing RL. What were the assists in those years.
