PLAYER SPONSORSHIP: - We're nearly there!

We are jsut 29 shares short of the number required for our 4th sponsored player for season 2009.

What an unbelievable group effort.

So far 74 posters have agreed to join in this group sponsorship, pledging as little as 1 share and as many as 20 shares.

And there are still a number of last season's group who we haven't heard from yet.

Who is going to join the group and snap up the remaining shares?

Well we're down to needing just 21 more shares for our 4th player, so I think we've probably passed the point of no return in debating whether we should get a 4th player or not.

The Club is accepting multiple sponsors for all players and if we choose to we can take any player on the list except
Roo
Dal
Lenny
Bally
who have all reached the maximum number of multiple sponsors.

Everybody else is avaialble but most belong to the 'Core Group' which costs $1500 as agianst teh 'Development Group' which costs $1050 and is the amount we are currently trying to raise.

Whilst I have no objection to sponsoring a player that already has a sponsor, I must say that personally I felt uncomfortable last year with some players having up to 4 sponsors and others having none.

Because of that I asked the Club for a list of all players who remain unsponsored at this point in time.

They have just replied with teh following list of players who remain unsponsored:-

Mini - 'Core Group"
Dempster - 'Core Group'
Miles - 'Development Group'
Smith - 'Development Group'
Cahill - 'Development Group'

My own feelings are that we should discount Mini and Dempster because of the cost involoved ($1500 vs $1050)

Of the 3 remaining, I think Miles is still on the Rookie list whereas the other 2 are listed players.

We also have the option of waiting for the Rookie Draft because some/all of those picked then will become avaialble for sponsoring.

What should we do?

I think we should wait until after the rookie draft, if we manged to get Clancee Pearce I would be fighting til the bitter end to ensure he was the kid we drafted... out of those guys I would probably want to go for Smith... like Eastern, no particular reason...
