Did any one see todays Age (24 March 2009.) 2009 time capsule "expert" piece? Caroline Wilson has her top 8 as Geelong, Bulldogs, Carlton, hawks, port, Collingwood, Richmond, St Kilda. She thinks lance franklin will kick 115 goals and thinks the Big Issue of the year will be St Kildas Woes.
And to think I thought R.Walls was the most overrated "expert" in footy.
Nick Sheridan could not find a spot in the 8 with sydney carlton and richmond for us. Another of my new favorite journos.

Carlton will not finish 3rd.
And I don't see why so many people have Collingwood finishing 3rd? Most overrated list in the league (then again, who wouldn't be with such an outspoken president?). I think after Geelong & Hawthorn, it's a toss up between us, the Dogs & the Power for the last two top 4 spots. If we're to be any chance for the flag, we need top 4!

The Saints are coming!
Caralton dont have the defensive stocks to be a Top 4 side.
Their midfield will give Fev etc plenty of supply..but they'll need to kick 18-20 goals to win games I'd think as their backlinme will leak goals especially against sides witth a big key forward like Buddy, Roo, BBBH etc.

She could be right saints will slide below carlton who are stronger than the hawks this year? But richmond? Is Cuz that good that he can carry the rest of them? I think a heap of journos got off the saints because they picked us as premiers last year and we thought it would all come together after the nab cup. But she seems to consistently come up with some stupid calls. A heap of them have Chris Judd as the brownlow winner. In his prime he was a gun but last year he was a very gop. Maybe without injuries hell go better but Gary Ablett might have to break down for that to happen. IMO Ablett was the best player last couple of years -umpires like to give retrospective votes when there is a glaring omission- like ablett not having a brownlow.
If she agreed with me I could tolerate her a bit more- no I lie I hope GT mistakes her for his colonic irrigation equipment and put her where she belongs.

She obviously reckons if we finish 8th that there would have been woes to have caused us to finish that low.
I believe that she thinks that the saints will probably finish top 4 but is catering to Cartlon fans by placing them in there instead knowing that it means jack all. Much rather be discounted than the pumping up that we usually get.
C.Wilson - Carlton
Carlton could finish 3rd in the home & away season (like anyone else) but they wont go far in the finals if they make it. the saints might slide this year as apart from Hawks cats and dogs its even for us magpies roos lions tigers and power

The Saints made the mistake of relying on Lockett years back and although he kicked tons of goals, we didn't really achieve much, as there wasn't a good balance of talent over the team -same goes for Carlton with Judd -he will play great individual games, but it's a team game and Carlton haven't got the quality all over the ground...maybe improve one position on the ladder, same for Richmond.
