Weapon in the bag!
Today I witnessed glimpses of Sammy Fisher more involved in the midfield....Is this one of the weapons that will take up to the next step come finals time?
With Max and Maguire getting match fit in the seconds and Dawson's step up in performance...Sammy will be able to be released!
Love Sammy in the midfield, adds strength, height and skill!

the coaches have admitted to trying to get Gilbo and Sammy further up the field but necessity meant they couldn't.
I felt Sam was moving more freely today- has not seemed to be as agile this year.

Fisher still has trouble with slow decision making. He needs to stop over-thinking his options - kick it to a contest or go back and switch play, but do it quick before the opposition has a chance to man up. He's at his best when on the run.

No doubt that with Max back, u now have Max, Zac. Gilbert and Blake, which releases Fish and Gram into the middle.Spinner wrote:Today I witnessed glimpses of Sammy Fisher more involved in the midfield....Is this one of the weapons that will take up to the next step come finals time?

Just dont think he is good enough below his knees and is a slow decision maker sometimes. A great half back and I dont see any need at all for him to play in the middle.Spinner wrote:plugger66 wrote:He is a great half back who could be an ordinary midfielder who hopefully never plays there.
Could be an ordinary midfielder?
I tend to believe that he would excell at both the midfield, and as a proven half back.
What characteristic make you think he would be ordinary?

Fisher reads the play very well when he doesn't have the ball and that makes him a great defender, particularly as that "loose man" in defense. However I don't think he reads things as well when he has possession, causing him to hesitate, second guess himself and often miss the first (and best) option. He can get away with that with the time and space he has in defense, but would find things a lot tougher in the midfield. To me, Fisher is ideally suited as the 3rd tall defender.

An astute comment which, naturally enough, I agree with.Statsman wrote:Fisher reads the play very well when he doesn't have the ball and that makes him a great defender, particularly as that "loose man" in defense.
