can riewoldt win brownlow?

Post: # 760439Post bigcarl »

THE inscription on the Brownlow Medal might as well have been changed to the Midfielders Medal with what has transpired over the past 20 years. In that time, the overwhelming majority of the winners have been players who have played predominantly in the midfield.

It's hard to argue against those medallists as most of them have been outstanding players and part of the game's elite.

But maybe - just maybe - St Kilda's inspirational skipper Nick Riewoldt might be the man to buck the trend of recent history this season.

etc, etc

Not a chance, it's a midfielder's medal all the way....I'd say joey or dal are a better chance this year

No way he has a history of polling very badly. Too mouthy towards the umps. (not saying he doesn't deserve it though)

With G Ablett probably having 20 votes already, Nick would probably need to be BOG almost every week from here on in to win it. Joey has hopefully got heaps though, so he is likely our best bet. Glad to see it, too, as he works so hard.

Have you ever watched Riewoldt's reactions during the Brownlow count.
In games where he took heaps of marks, kicked goals, topped the dream team points and he doesn't get a vote.
He really seems agitated that not only don't the umpires pay him free kicks they don't even notice that he was on the ground when it comes to Brownlow votes.

I'm not sure, maybe Riewoldt can win the Brownlow - I reckon he might have a better chance of winning the Coleman medal though

Well I think he could've won it years ago, but didn't get close.

In a team like our I would say it would be tough for him to take Charlie home but who knows.IMO Lenny,Dal ,Joey, BJ even Kosi would be taking the vital 3 votes that it takes to win in alot of games. He has had a great year but as stated in other posts its a midfielders monopoly these days but the way umpires think, well

I bet a friend an expensive lunch that he'd outpoll Adam Goodes in the brownlow this year.

So you guys had better be wrong . . .

Those blind retards have no idea.

Time the whole brownlow voting system is changed to make it fair.

(Mind you, it worked OK for in 87, 97 & 98!)

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

Quite simple, he was a talented player playing in a very disciplined well drilled team of average players.
When the umpires realised Sydney had won, they would think who was their best player - they could not think of anyone playing well except for Goodes.
So Goodes gets the votes.

nope locket winning the brownlow was a aberration, the first and only FF to win one. And if the player of the centurrary can't win one from the FP roo can't win one.

Agree, very risky....Adam Goodes and Simon Black ALWAYS poll well.
