How are they basing those figures??? Bit of a slap in the face IMO.

I hope we crunch these turkeys! Lose the game after or the one after that or both as far as I'm concerned, but let's get over the Hawks! I can't stand that arrogant bunch and their fair-weather supporters!

Thou betting has been suspended on the Hawthorn v StKilda game due to large sums in a short space of time all being put on Hawthorn - bookies seem to think there is some news to hit when the teams are announced tonight - some rumours going around of player injuries for the saints.

Can anyone tell me why betting wasn't suspended when the Catters had 6 of their best 22 out against Brisbane (and there was a fair bit onf $$$ put on them) a few weeks ago?

I believe that some were late withdrawals hence why betting is suspended on our game. The bookies took a hit after the cats lions game and they are protecting themselves (as bookies always do). dont get sucked in by it all. Even if we do announce a team tonight there is no guarantee that that team will line up. Dont bet on the footy until the final teams are announced.

In laymans terms the suspending of betting on our game is so the bookies dont get burnt again like last time.

the betting agency/ies stated that some familiar punters started laying big money on the hawks.. punters that were known but not regular....

and last time the sort of bets were laid was when Geelong Played Brisbane and dropped about 8

Yes - the bookies believe that some punters have inside info that there are a number of big name Saints out and have bet large on the Hawks.

The bookies say they will suspend betting until they know more info about what team the Saints will actually put on the park.

Until then they cannot 'frame' a market that truly reflects the odds (in their opinion)

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure if it were a rumor from the club or something. I'm hoping no injuries and just some bonehead put ridiculous amounts of money on the Hawks, hence the betting suspension. (I don't know if that's a plausible situation, I don't understand all the betting stuff)

Hawks were paying 3.20 we were paying a dollar something. No doubt some punters thought they were juicy odds for the hawks which they were. They decided to bet. Some people bet thousands like we bet $2. Knee jerk reaction to people betting thousands
