They'd want a 2nd or 3rd rounder thrown in.

No.

If one defender gets injury atm, the only real big backup atm is Matt Meguire that is solid/tall.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere (a few weeks back) that Lovett wants $400K plus a season

Goose would not be on that type of salary

true. but thats probably just his manager flying a kite with a big number. when the reality of trade week hits his price will come down big time id say.
no guarantees anyone will take him at his age.

I dont think it will happen & as much as that injection of speed would help Essendon wouldnt go for it .I'm happy to give Matty another year if hes willing to stay but at the moment i'm still hurting too much to even contemplate trades

I would be surprised to see Goose traded.

I think his injury management has been very well planned this year and I see him as required in 2010.

I agree that Simpkin is very promising...but he doesn't have a big body as yet...he needs another year or two to get that body.

IMO...would like to keep Goose as cover in the backline ...in case of injury...to take big bodied forwards....and who knows, he may get back to something near his best and be a regular again.

Having said that, I believe he will definitely be on the trade table...so who knows.

Interesting to see what another pre-season will do for Goose.

Endurance will play a big part in the decision to keep him.

Max Hudgton couldnt get a game in our backline.

Hes a far better backman than Goos will ever be.

Who is Goose gonna push out?

Raph? - is Goose as mobile.....could he have taken a Burns?
Gilbert?
Fisher?
Dawson?
Baker?

Is he a fwd now?

I dont like the chances of hanging on to him and if the right trade came up Id take it.Nows not the time to be sentimental - the clubs also stuck by Goose and in fairness he has a right to have a crack at senior AFL footy......not to rot in the two's as a nagging "emmergency" to put the wind up senior players....

If anyone wants to trade into St Kilda there is a simple test.

Take a pay cut.

If you wont take a pay cut, you dont want to be part of St Kilda's 2010 premiership.
We dont want you.

Goose is a significant risk for any other team.
He has not returned to his pre broken leg best.
This may be just a matter of time, or the effect of all those operations is he will never be as good again.
