Do you reckon that Melbourne or Freo or Hawthorn would pass on him if he went in the PSD?

Freo may but Melbourne or Hawthorn would be mad to. Think the Goose will stay put personally. Just MO though.

Maybe this year?

Or maybe Goose would prefer "A midsummer nights dream" ?

Reading into what Ross said... Goose may not be up to it since his injury.

So who knows?

Maybe he'll never recapture his form.

Goose for Lovett = worth considering.

That would be a good deal for us IMO. Lovett is a quality player and would be ideal for us.

And Essendon would turn it down in a heartbeat...

I love the Goose (obviously). However, I don't think we would get much for him despite clubs showing some interest. If I was Goose I wouldn't want to go anywhere. We will play next year at some stage and just needs to take that chance. He has more of a chance playing in a premiership in his career at St.Kilda than at Essendon.

Agree with you. Can't see it happening at all.

Agree, we know what he is CAPABLE of, but we also know of his three leg problems and subsequent loss of pace (which he didnt even have to start with)

Problem is, we arent going to get much for him... a third round selection would be likely - only could get better if there are several bidders pitted against each other. Could it be more likely we can trade him for a player?? Essendon have plenty of speedy wingmen (besides Lovett), and like Ray last year, they are struggling to break into the side due to an overwhelming amount of similar players. They are looking to offload Leroy Jetta - could he be a good trade for the Goose? Or even Goose + 3rd pick for Jetta??

We can go round in circles with speculation... but one thing we can be guaranteed on is St Kilda's professionalism in trade week. Look at the past three years, and it is clear that we only trade for needs, and ALWAYS get a good price for the players - we never pay over the odds, and rarely under, making us a good club to deal with. If we lose Goose, we know we will have at least gotten a fair price for him...

Is he really a quality player?? Doesn't do enough in the big games to excite me, just a flashy frontrunner IMO

I think goose will stay, more than adequate depth, nothing hurts healthy internal competition for spots!

Haven't seen enough of him to discuss the finer points, but I've liked what I have seen. He's very quick, likes to run hard into the forward 50 and kicked 22 goals this year. Could be a third forward option for us. Came 11th in the Bombers B&F this year, averaged 21 disposals a game. GOP I reckon.

The reason Lovett wants out is because he does not see eye to eye with the coach... My guess is that we have not seen his full potential because of this... if you're not playing for the coach, you're not going to play consistently to your potential.

Whilst yes, he drifts in and out of games, the talent is definately there. He needs a coach/mentor who can keep him in line playing consistent footy. If we ended up with him, i would back Ross to do this!

Good point, and it may be the same for Goose.

Same situation with Ray...played much better under Ross.
