Fisher was a member of the Saints team which lost by 12 points to Geelong in the grand final, but the 27-year-old says the team has the drive to bounce back from that disappointment.

"We came so close, but didn't quite get there so I'm sure the boys' burning desire will be greater than ever," he told AAP.

"We were a hungry side last year and that probably makes us even hungrier to go one better next year.

"I think our young guys got back on Monday, they started their first day, and the guys with over five years playing experience start next Wednesday so we're all looking forward to getting back."

Although the article was dated Tuesday 17 November, I think Fisher was referring to Wednesday 25 November for the return of players with more than 5 years experience.

Chips but no Fish, a bit like St Kilda's Clams fish and chip shop.
Seems that whiting has suddenly become scarce and expensive so they rarely have any now.
I can have my chips but not my fish.

I'd rather players wouldn't sell the club's 2010 motives based on the pain from the season just passed. It's exactly what the Pies and Dogs are doing and this whole "the pain is our hunger" is starting to sound like a broken record.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

If they are training outdoors at Dendy Park then they can hardly close it.
More a matter of knowing where and when.

Pies and Dogs are like toddlers with a scratch, they only think they are in pain because they have never experienced the real thing.

In the last 12 years, only Carlton in 99, Melbourne in 00. Port Adelaide in 04 and 07, and Hawthorn in 08, played in just the one Grand Final. All other teams in the last twelve Grand Finals played in at least two consecetive Grand Finals. Lets all hope the Saints can make it at least two in a row.

'Chips' is without doubt the most pathetic and witless nickname ever created.

Just woeful.

The biggest factor, in addition to the mental fitness of the group (ie. the keenness to maintain 24 months of 110% intensity) will be the off-season fitness of the guys.

Who's had surgery? Who gets a full pre-season?

It's critical.

Agreed.

Now that Leigh is gone he might now claim Fish.

Maybe he can go from chips to the equally witless, well probably every nickname in football.

And while we are at it why can that American golfer have his nickname up on the board.

I am sure he wasn't christianed "Tiger".

Pretty much agree.

Did Goddard have work done? Gardiner? Know Kingy did. Other suspects would be Milne and #23.

That is the important question. We would all hope that ALL players are ready to go from Session 1, given our late start this year !!
