In game one I would think Johnson, Stanley, Heyne, Simpkin, Hutchings, Smith. Maybe also Walsh, Winmar, Miles

personally i'll be hoping we get to see stanley, lynch, steven and winmar.
it would be good to see 'ivan' out there, see how his skills are developing, but won't be holding my breath. could be too soon for the big fella.
and i'd like to see ALL our players remain injury free.

Armo to lead the midfield, which includes Steven and Peake in the starting 18. If Hayes/Dal/Joey play they get extended bench time

Mc Evoy 1st ruck with Pattinson or Stanley

Lynch a leading forward and Heyne up forward as well.

Maybe Gaertner in a key defensive role

will see a lot these 12 as our core in the nab cup + pre season:

armo steven peake miles heyne stanley lynch simpkin johnson geary eddy gwilt

(+ 10-12 established players just building up their fitness according to individual needs)

then we might get a sneaky glimpse of these 5.

A Smith, Gaertner, Hutchings, Tommy Gun, Winmar.

Smith will be kept back as a surprise inclusion for round 1.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them play Walsh at CHB.....

They have mentioned a few times he can play either end....And most players at the club have usually spent their developing years in the backline.

Will provide Walsh an opportunity to learn about reading the play. No better place than at CHB.

Well the other Smith, Alistair, can walk & run and may prove to be a surprise packet this year. :)

Alistair Smith has plenty of potential , but will not be a surprise inclusion in round 1.

Exactly.

If you thought he was going to play, it wouldn't be a surprise.

Yes but the thread is in relation to NAB Cup and if people are prepared to nominate Hutchings, a 1st year Rookie, then I don't see Alistair Smith, a 2nd year senior list player, as such a far fetched nomination for selection.

Agree for round 1 of the NAB Cup.
The quote you took out of context was in relation to round 1 of the AFL Season.

Pies to field a strong side by the looks of things which is good.

Pick the kids and let them come up against a good outfit that is nice and strong, good test for the young guys on our list.

Pretty excited for this years NAB cup as we didn't get to see many youngsters during the season. Hopefully one of two can really step up.

Especially excited to see Steven and Lynch.
