Clearances around the packs?

Post: # 898159Post spert »

Dunno if it's just me, but looking at the Swans game and the NAB game against the Dogs, we don't seem to be doing too well with clearances around the packs, as it seems our smalls and mids don't seem to be getting enough of the ball...any comments ??

we were smashed in the hitouts on saturday, so that is a factor. also, luke ball (for all his other weaknesses) was pretty good in this regard ... ie burrowing in and under and feeding it out.

i just hope that armo can step up quickly and use his strength and toughness to adequetely fill that role.

I thought that the Swans rucks were more effective with their hitouts.

Hard to get the ball if it is not coming in your direction.

Lenny too was eased in with only 66% TOG.

Swans game are normally quite different to our other matches though.

Lenny should be a big improver after the run. Also like to see Geary given more time on the ball. He has a good footy brain.

Armo is a great tackler. He is second to the ball.

He was on Saturday night, not always the case though. Was a good clearance winner in at least one of the Nab games. Against Hawthorn last year also from memory.

BJ around the stoppages is good for clearances and Hayes will get better with match fitness and more time on the ground. Also think Baker could be used in this capacity for short periods?

Maybe this year?
