If we could have one member of our 2004 squad (part 2)....

...get in the ear of a current player.

Gehrig to Kosi for mine.

I remember when Fraser came back and Kosi said he told him he'd already 'marked' his new territory in the goal square... that seems like a lifetime ago now, and what Kosi needs some of that G-train swagger... and rage!

Its a good point you make.
Would love to see Kosi get a bit more of an 'attitude'.

Showed attitude in round one, and came under fire (at least on here) for his bump.

Personally I think a suspension would be the least of the big guys problems right now, if it was up to me he would have full licence to play his instinctive angry game...

I'd tell him Roo's return is fast approaching, go throw his body around and intimidate the opposition to his hearts content, and to leave it up to the coach to worry about potential suspensions.

Compare him to any other big man in the comp as far as reckless bumping and head high contact goes (Buddy, Hille) and I think we judge him harshly.

Hamil would be my choice. Hard, tough and had the ability to lift the team with his toughness. A 'spriritual' leader around the club at the time. Much like Lenny and Roo are now.

Also, very easy on the eye 8-)

It would have to be Hamill, would make any defenders darken there undies and they would stay away from Roo

I love this club

May sound like a funny choice (especially given the injury news), but I would love to get Armo to spend some time with Robert Harvey (love anyone to spend time with Robert Harvey... but...).

The difference between Armo and star calibre is getting to the second contest. Win the ball, handball, run. Do it all again.

Instead, he's Luke Ball light.

Tragic about the injury. IMO, early in the year, his game suffered a bit because the umps were working hard NOT to give the headbutting free kicks (ala Ball, Selwood). They've come back, and he's deafinately a lead-with-the-head midfielder.

Luke Penny, quality defender who would release Goddard to midfield forward.

At least a few noticed the difference between the question asked in this thread and the original!

For everyone else the question here is who from the 2004 list would you want to have a word or two with in our current list, and why....

Here's battye's original thread asking who you would pick to play;

Hamil or Gtrain. Fraser would be great again as FF in coleman form, and Sammy would be the half forward we have been missing ever since his injury, kicks goals, and with forward pressure these days he would rip people apart.

Hamill, Max and Harvey all fit.

A really, really good team just became extraordinary.

I'd love to see Kosi get a bit more of the ball.

A few goals would be handy, too.

Not too concerned about whether he throws his weight around or not, but if he does he ought to avoid nearly taking an opponent's head off.

Has to be a player that we don't have

Powell, Gehrig (Riewoldt as a FF), Guerra, Voss - we've got players that can fill those holes

IMO there are only 2 choices
Austin Jones into the midfield rotation/HBF
Max Hudghton to FB

of those choices, I'd go Aussie and hope Zac gets it together

has to be the G-Locomotive.

gehrig (circa 2004) averaged probably four goals a game or more (couldn't be bothered finding the exact stat). he'd do even better in this team with its strong midfield and outstanding defence.

we could really do with an effective goal-kicking key forward.
