Harvey for Captain in 2008

Post: # 461456Post briggsy »

Next year most likely being harvey's last (although i hope it isnt) he will be extremely motivated for the premiership. he is a great leader and i reckon it would be great for him to lead the club that he loves so much for his last year. any thoughts?

It won't happen.

There would be worse captains, but if he was to be made full time captain, it should have been a few years ago.

Pretty stupid to appoint three captains then remove the privelige from them in order to satisfy peoples pipes dreams of making Harvey captain for his last year.

Is the "C" worth anything these days?

i think harvey should be! hes been probably one of our top players this year, and hes turning 78 next year!
he is an awesome legend, but if he was asked is he wants to lead the club, i know he would say "nope, let the other 3 stay as captain"

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

no he shouldnt lead the club

he struggled toward the back end of the season and looked to be slowing down a little bit...

why slap a C on him?

He wasn't happy when GT took the captaincy from him and gave it to Hamill so this way he can get what is ritefully his. But lets not stop at captaincy

He played last night for Geelong.

Tom Harley shows both on and off the field exactly what a captain is.

To me the closest we have is Lenny closely followed by Luke Ball.

While I don't think Harvey should be Captain next year, I do firmly believe that we should unite as a club under one captain.

could you see one of the three captains stepping back for a year to let Harvs be a captain..i would think if one was prepared to , we would be better on field due to his leadership. He was like a captain agaist west coast this year, and look what happened...
