Most improved player for 2008?

Post: # 488804Post Oh When the Saints »

Off-season thread #3

Who will be our most improved player (of the current list) in 2008?

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

I voted for Luke VanRheenen.

Hopefully he can cemant a spot in the VFL Senoirs next year and become one of the better Ruckmen in the VFL.

Another to also improve I think will be Jarryn Geary.

excellent poll

i voted Armitage. I think he will be given the greatest oppoutunity in the senior side.

I also believe Allen with a full season should be able to really step it up and hopefully crack a debut at some stage.

Geary obviously has shown great signs, should continue to improve and hopefully he can prove a worthwhile gamble.

Jones i still cant see him making it

howard, if he isnt a fulltime casey senior's player then its goodbye to him

van rheenen, im excited by this guy. he is great at training and with his attitude i believe he could become anything. hopefully he will get more time in the casey seniors working with Rix in the ruck.

Eddy also showed he is capable. He is next in line for elevation. still shocked he lasted till the rookie draft.

Gilbert has already improved to much to be considered the most improved. i still expect him to become one of the top five or so players for stkilda next year. forget Koschitzke as our super utility. he can be a permanent fullforward next year as far as im concerned. gilbert can play literally every position on the ground except ruck. can tag the best midfielders, can defend the best talls, can run off the best wingmen, and can kick goals on the best defenders.

gwilt is just a backup if he is going to be used as a key defender. if he wants his own spot then he can take a hff.

raph, gee wizz i hope he can improve. too slow and/or too lazy. too un-co and/or too lanky. too unskillful and/or nerves under pressure.

get him motivated. get him fit. make him the player he was suppose to be

Bot - Gilbert can't even kick right yet

But I agree

He's our next Brownlow medalist

Captain

3000 game player

Rumour has it he's also in line for a Wallabies call-up

And rookied for the Socceroos

Today's Age also hints that there is another smokie candidate for the seat of Benalong

You got it

I didn't put Ball/Goose/BJ in the poll, because whilst they may perform better, they have already set a high level of performance in previous years on a consistent basis.

I went for Geary as he ticks a lot of boxes. Rookie elevation says the club sees something in him. Starting from zero position (elevated at end of season) so any/all improvement will be noted/exaggerated. Has now had a full year of playing against men. Will have a full pre season under the belt. GO GEARS !!

Armo for mine.

A little bit maligned but showed great touch in the pre season last year and it little bursts for Casey.

With some more fitness and consistency he should blossom.

Geary for me.

From what I have seen of him, he seems to have everything necessary to be a decent AFL player. Probably won't be a star, but handy midfielder/flanker to rotate off the bench.

I think Armo shows the most potential to improve next year.

BTW, I feel if some of the others tread water or (God forbid) go backwards, they may not be Saints in '09.

It'd have to be either my boy Jones, R. Clarke (end of season) or S. Gilbert.

It's finals performances that separate the contenders from pretenders - so raph gets my vote!
cj did okay, armo okay, gilbert was found wanting.

I would rate Jason Blake by a mile as the most improved this year and he wasn't even considered a candidate. He will finish up in the top 10 in the B & F - or at least the most improved.

Sam Fisher.

Took his game into the elite bracket.

Lol, I thought it asked who was the most improved, not who will be, then realised it was posted nearly a year ago.

I voted for Jonesy.

Shame Armo couldn't do a little more, but that game against Essendon in Round... 5? gives me hope that he'll be a gun.
