NRL chief David Gallop declares war on the AFL

Post: # 522231Post hilairehinshelwood »

It seems as if the NRL are upset with the AFL's expansion plans into Western Sydney and are counteracting with expansion plans of their own, even into the AFL territory of Perth. As i see it the first battle, on the Gold coast has been won by the NRL, as they have a team that's now moved into a superb stadium. Whilst the AFL have no team and a decrepid stadium in what was new neutral territory.
Can the AFL win in Western Sydney and the NRL in Perth, what would be considered a success for each code in these areas?. Are the Swans and the Storm a success in terms of interest and fans in enemy territory? Who will win the battles and ultimately the War.
Obviously this site will favour AFL and i personally from a soccer upbringing prefer AFL 100's of times over rugby league, but the code has taken a hiding on the Gold Coast. Can either coe gain on the other (and where) in this War?

There is no way that NRL will make any impact in Perth, IMO WA could probably support another team...
I also think we are wasting our time in the Gold Coast and West Sydney...
I wonder when New Zealand are going to be suggested...

AFL is so far ahead of NRL not just in profit margin (which is a massive gap) but through support and most of all attendance.

Well AFL is the third highest attended football league in the world...
I don't think the NRL has any chance whatsoever...
