Archie Fraser and Nick Riewoldt at the club

:?: I would have assumed if it was the captaincy then Ross would be involved?

Nah, his knee is fine ... trust me

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

On SEN...

Suggested it might relate to the funds raised at family day for the Frankston Oval grandstand.

ST KILDA co-captain Nick Riewoldt strongly defended AFL team-mate Robert Harvey today, saying the two-time Brownlow medallist should never be underestimated.

Harvey, 36, responded to criticism of his pre-season form with a strong game on Saturday night as the Saints beat Adelaide to win the NAB Cup.

Riewoldt described Harvey as a "true champion".

"You've got to be careful how quickly you write off a champion and I'm not sure anyone was even writing him off," Riewoldt said.

"If you underestimate Harvs then you obviously don't him as well as we do, as his team-mates, he's a true champion."

Riewoldt said the Saints are yet to decide who will captain the club for the 2008 home and away season.

Riewoldt and Lenny Hayes are currently the two co-captains.

Riewoldt was speaking this morning at a media conference in the south-east Melbourne suburb of Frankston, which will be the new training base for the Saints from 2010.

The state government today confirmed it would contribute $3.45 million towards the $10.25 million project, which involve the construction of a new training centre for St Kilda.

The State Govt logo was firmly affixed to last November's announcement of the relocation to Frankston.

So, is this another $3.45 million, on top of the previously announced $3.45 million, or is this just getting the most political mileage out of repeat announcements?

A couple of weeks ago the government hadn't approved the relocation of the money so it's just afirming it by the sounds of it

Thanks for that..

However I read at the bottom:

The Victorian Government is jointly funding the project with $2.55 million from the AFL, $1.25 million from St Kilda and $3 million from the City of Frankston.

So is the Vic Gov giving 3.45 or 2.55 million??

Also the above does not add up to $10.25 million.

Is there Fed money as well???

Who is making up the difference??
Does anyone have the full and accurate breakdown?

thats exactly what I thought straight away and even posted thats as well. Until I realised that

"The Victorian Government is jointly funding the project with $2.55 million from the AFL, $1.25 million from St Kilda and $3 million from the City of Frankston."

means 2.55 from the AFl, 1.25 from the saints and 3mil from frankston, and 3.45 from the Vic Gov.

so thats 2.55+1.25+3+3.45 = 10.25

3.45 State
+2.55 AFL
+1.25 Saints
+3.00 Frankston

= 10.25 Total

noted this added finance at the bottom of this following article
The current budget for the new centre is $10.25 million, but Saints chief executive Archie Fraser said that could change.

He said the Saints' current contribution of $1.25 million could rise to about $3 million to meet possible added costs.

well better than the six million we would've had to pay at Moorabbin
